I don't really know what planet the Humans are on in the end, but can anyone educate me on how far away from the destroyed Installation 04 they are? Because couldn't the shrapnel from 04 one day hit them? It won't stop unless it hits or goes near a planet.

- Truly intelligent and deep Black ops trailer

Stupid thread is stupid, 04 was orbiting (or close to) a gas giant and all the shrapnel will be doing just that.

General of The Irish Punks

Installation 04 was being rebuilt on the ark. The ark itself was outside of the milky way. The time it would take for even the fastest pieces of shrapnel to reach Earth would take thousands of years.

more than that... it would take millions... considering a piece of shrapnel from an unfocused explosion gets no where near light speed.

Surely the bigger question is when will the orbital stations and the destroyed ships in orbit crash down to earth?

The original 04 was already littering Basis (it's moon)

I would think they would just fall into orbit, and any small fragments with burn up on re-entry.

Oh and Basis is Threshold's moon, it sounded as if you were implying it was installation 04's moon.

Wasn't 04 orbiting Basis?

Nope, Alpha halo was directly between the moon and the gas giant.

OK this is going to probably be a dumb question, then why was it night when rescuing Keyes?

Nevermind, got it, Halo was rotating not the planets round it.

Pretty much you had Gas giant - halo - moon

Halo staying between the two all the time and rotating itself.

Wasn't 04 orbiting Basis?

It was orbiting Threshold on Lagrange point. It's basically a point between planet or star and it's satellite where the object stays always between both celestial objects. Installation 04 was basically orbiting Threshold.

The first installation 04 was already orbiting a planet and would crash on that one. The new one on the Ark is outside the galaxy and looked to be a good ways since you can see the entire galaxy and looked pretty small. My guess is that if it did it wouldn't happen for a few billions of years and even then it has a very small chance of happening, like 1 in a trillion.
