In the first several years that I played H2 I was not a big fan of dual wielding as the PP and pistol had been so watered down it just wasnt alot of fun.
Over the past two years or so I have been experimenting more, just to keep things different and interesting, here is what I have found (legendary campaign):
1) With sputnik and catch activated dual wielding needlers can create some awesome explosive chain reactions. It is also a great way to send elites flying waaaaaaaaaay up and off into the distance. Now that is good fun!
2) Hunters in H2 are more of a challenge than in CE. Given that I like things up close and personal, dual wielding plasma rifles as you take on Hunters is a more exhilirating and challenging experience than just taking them out with beam rifle or sniper rifle shots.
3) The hangar battle against the Heretic Leader works better with dual needlers as well. It takes out the fakes quickly and then you can switch over to a carbine or beam rifle to deal with the big H.
There are alot of other scenarios where with certain skull combos dual wielding makes alot more sense and can create some rather interesting situations. When I go back to CE, i do not miss dual wielding at all.
