This isn't the right forum for this, but perhaps i can shed a little light on the subject.
First of all, Most companies do not buy stories from others. They usually look for someone that can write THEIR story. Sometimes they actually hire a story writer (Bioware is currently hiring conversation writers by the way, if you're interested). However, i do know that there are some developers out there that buy story's.

However, keep the downside of this in mind: They usually come with a special contract stating that they will buy the idea, you however will lose all copyright issues, thus it now belongs to them forever. If they plan not to use it, they won't give back the copyrights. Thus you will never be able to sell it to a different developer.

Another yet difficult way, is trying to work your way into a company, start as a programmer or something, or a content writer (Bungie is hiring by the way, and so is Blizzard, not sure what though), When you get hired simply try to tell the big boss about your idea, maybe he'll except it. the good thing about this is that you can contact the people that are actually involved with story writing, nor do you actually have to sell the thing, since most of it can stay informal till it actually happens.

I'm sure there are other ways, but not all of them are easy (none is actually), or that obvious.
I wish i could tell you more, but i obviously never sold a story to a developer. So can't give out too much info on it.

Your best bet is to self-develop it. It's unlikely that a developer will make your idea into a game, since they have their own ideas.

You could always try creating a demo and sending it to a publisher - they may give you money to fully develop the game.

In any case, it's going to involve you creating something more solid than a storyline.

I have been a writer for a while now, but I haven't tackled tha idea game scriptwriting. I recently hatched a story that would be great for a game, but how do I go about trying to get a developer to buy it?
