Subject: The flood cure

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

Remember bow in Halo:Cryptum we found out that ancient humans found a cure for the flood? What if it was simply widespread borrens syndrome?

Sangheili Major: "Brute ships. Staggered line! Shipmaster, they outnumber us, three-to-one!"

Rtas 'Vadum: "Then it is an even fight. All Cruisers, fire at will! Burn their mongrel hides!"

How about we change the question to this...

"Why didn't the Forerunners use ancient Humanity's cure to stop the Flood?"

Because that question already has an answer.

Did you even read the book?

better yet, did you understand when didact said they destroyed all research knowledge of the cure? Do you know what that means?

No the humans weren't arrogant the forerunners were.

You can look it up on halopedian but the humans found a cure for the flood but had to "infect" 1/3 of their population and throw them into infested areas to kill the flood. the flood then weaken and flee to another galaxy.

Meanwhile the forerunners beat a weaken human empire and de-evolve them. Before they could the humans destroyed all knowledge of the cure and the ships the flood were found in and wouldn't tell the forerunners about the cure even when detained.

"You were weak... and gods must be strong."

Borren's Syndrome, if I remember correctly, did not entirely explain the immunity to infection. I believe that was an ONI cover-up because of Johnson's ever so slight 'augmentations' (they were given a few treatments). I could be wrong on this, but I feel like that's what I read.

That said, no that wasn't the cure. They mentioned somewhere in Cryptum (I've only read it through once and that was weeks ago, so I could be wrong here too) that they had to send human martyrs that had a certain condition.. which most certainly wouldn't be Borren's Syndrome, given how one obtains the Syndrome. It was probably something created by humanity that countered the neuropathical attacks of the Flood.

ok ty and yes i meant the forunners were.so basically detroying the cure info was humanity's last middle finger before being de-evolved?

I admit that is confusing but as far as i know borens syndrome does exist but johnson didn't happen. so theoretically we already know of a cure for the flood.

And the humans did find a legitimate cure for the flood and volunteers injected themselves with it and were put on flood planets to kill them.

Really? The Humans weren't arrogant? They started the war, killed hundreds of innocent spieces on distant worlds so they could conquer them to be more powerful for their rivalry with the Forerunners. They were starving for strength and power and they were in a way, kind of desperate.

You didn't even read the book so stop posting.

The humans didn't "start the war" atleast not with the intention of starting one.

They were down to 1/3 of their population and were fleeing the flood thus they came in contact with forerunner planets. And what the hell are you talking about? the humans didn't do anything of the sort, if there was live on a planet they wanted they MOVED the life to another planet; which is far far harder and more difficult than just killing everything.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

And why the Hell would I buy a $60 book when I could easily read the reviews online? That's why I didn't read it.

If you haven't read the book don't talk like you have, your probably the reason people have been saying weird things about the book.

....You should read the book before you continue, Dustin. The Forerunners perceived it as that. Humanity was retreating farther into the Galaxy to ESCAPE THE FLOOD. The Forerunners had no idea of the Flood and thus assumed the humans were on a conquering rampage.

Yes, I realize they found a cure. I probably just worded that awkwardly.

That said, whatever I recall reading that disproved Johnson's Boren's Syndrome causing his immunity stated his Spartan-I augmentations did and it was an ONI cover-up. Yes, Boren's Syndrome existed, but I think it mentioned that the Syndrome didn't quite protect from Flood infection.
