a few ways to get them off that would be fair i think...
1. Would need to gain speed
2. Lighting quick reflexes, like the SECOND you see them get on you start hammering the R button and if you do it right you pull out a pistol or something and shoot him and kill or knock him off or slam the L button and you throw a nade and if the guy with the nade on him hammers HIS R button or whatever button he suicidally jumps onto the pilot and they both die. So it would have certain counter measures and stuff. So it would be a nice commotion hearing "OH HA HA HA IM ON YOUR GHOST D00D!!! lol you are so....WTF!?!??! NO NOT A STICKY GRENADE AHH!!! MUST HIT A BUTTON!!!!! OH NO *boooooom!!!!*" lol
3. Make a sudden turn or jump
by the way they are saying you get up close to a vehicle and press X to hijack, i dont think thats how you do it. I think the way you do it or SHOULD is you hit the jump button or something. If they made it X then if you hit it too soon you would reload or whatever. Also notice that in the E3 demo when the ghost is coming he crouches, slowly walks backwards, then at a split second before you see the cinematic begin of hijack, he rises off the ground a little as if he jumped and it went straight into a cutscene or something.
PS: was that E3 demo a real level in the game? if not i think it would be cool to release it as downloadable content (which im almost positive they will have) but tune it up with all the new features of Halo 2 (the hud, animations, since we all know that most thigns were scripted in that level)
PPS: I hope they release more than just MP maps on downloadable content
