Shouldn't the Forerunners lived? They were protected in the Ark, how did they die?

Be nice to noobs..Remember even MLG players were noobs at one point.

To my knowledge I don't think it has been said anywhere what truly happened to them other than that they have not yet returned. I guess Greg Bear will have to flesh out what really happens to them.

This Is The Show...

***SPOILERS*** (you all should know about this by now anyway) isn't the planet that john falls to at the end of halo 3 (legendary ending) supposed to be the new forerunner homeworld?

  • 05.06.2011 7:29 PM PDT

Sangheili Major: "Brute ships. Staggered line! Shipmaster, they outnumber us, three-to-one!"

Rtas 'Vadum: "Then it is an even fight. All Cruisers, fire at will! Burn their mongrel hides!"

Not all Forerunners died. They survived within the Shield Worlds, from what I understand.

I also think that the Legendary Planet is a Shield World.

that is the only explanation as that planet is outside the rim of the galaxy

some forerunners are still alive but only in the center of shield worlds, so no human has ever made contact with them, at least humans as they are during the covenant war timeline.

I think you got it. We really don't know if any of the Forerunners are still around, but going off of what I remember from the introduction to Cryptum and the way the fictional writer is speaking in it, I think it's likely that there are still some suriving Forerunners hiding out there somewhere.

isn't that supposed to be the milkyway galaxy, just on the far outer edges of it, beyond the reaches of the halo array...?

We vaguely know that it is ether in the clouds and anywhere in our galaxy other than the orion arm.

Which still doesn't help at all.

I personally thought that that was the planet we see in Origins in Halo Legends, you know the one the Flood totally overran. But that's just me :/

I think it might be Bornstellars homeworld, because it was described in Cryptum having entire vast cities on the world the only natural thing left are oceans and mountains
(from my memories)

To be honest, when I first saw all this in the weekly update I thought 2 things.
#1- there is an actual legendary ending but,
#2- No matter what anyone does,(kill all the bobs, hit all switches etc) that until the "time" mentioned in "There'll be another time..." is reached there won't be a legendary ending.

The weekly update by bungie has slowed my hardcore search for what unlocks the legendary ending.

The way I see it is that the Forerunners handed down the mantle to the Humans as a new mantle keeper. The Forerunners knew what the hell they were doing when they built Halo.

Galatic Suicide.

Maybe so, it's definitely a Forerunner world of some importance I'm sure.
