My Karma System:

1)instead of having only specific people 2 hand out karma, u could give members "Karma points".
2)This means that the member could give out a specific number of Karma to members they think deserve it. . This ammount would be the amount points they hav for themselves.
3)When there is a new member, they could each be able 2 give out like 5 points or something.
4)Also, u could assign five or so members 2 master karma giver or something. They would be able 2 give out as much as they wanted.

Problems-
1)People might use karma as 'money'(if u give me 5 karma , ill join yer group)

Solution-There is none. U could do the whole "report them" thing, but people spam others 2 get them 2 join their group without karma. Thats just something u hav 2 deal with

2)master karma giver might get spammed(please give me karma, etc.

Solution- If a PM from a normal member has the word karma in it, it will be put in a spam folder

The Red vs Blue forum has a system similar to this, except there's is smoother with less loop holes. Oh and one more thing, is it really that hard to just say "to"?

Oh. Well i saw a thread saying that no karma system works. It seemed like the only problem was that they didnt want 2 hav people 2 hand out karma 2 every1. Having the members hand out karma would help this

I don't like the idea of a general karma system, and to be honest I'd prefer none at all. We all know who here we respect, we don't need a new system that requires extra work on the community team's behalf to tell us that will inevitably be misused and manipulated. It would either turn into a popularity contest (see The Flood) or a you-give-me-five-points-i'll-do-the-same problem. Why do you think they removed the post count? What if I make a thread that upsets the fanboys/spammers and everyone gives me bad karma?

As long as the Bungie web team retain any specks of intelligence, they will never allow the users of Bungie.net to self-maintain such a service. Proportionally, there are more spammers than decent users. Those spammers would simply use points to detract from good users and to ascend others up the karma ladder. How would people like an uber-spammer such as Twitch to sit happily as the top user on Bungie.net? I doubt that they would; but a free peer to peer system would allow his army of fans to do such a thing.

And then you have the davester type. One who would create multiple accounts and each time use the new points to boost an original account.

It'd be great if such a thing could work. But, at least for the moment, it most certainly cannot. And thankfully, I've heard nothing bad about the karma system from those in the know, so we'll wait and see just what it's to be like; if it is to be implemented at all.

Yeah. I agreee that a karma system wouldnt work right now. I remember when I joined, it wasnt just the same people posting in the main forums. Many members came a day. Many of them participated. But now, many people come on fer a day and then never again. There hasnt been a post in the "introduce yourself" thread fer a day. Before there would be like 40 posts a day.Its almost impossible to get someone to join yer group(unless yer a really big group) because of all the spam.

I'll be on my own side.

Well, in the thread I created on this subject, the general idea was that the mods and admin could give karma to people who deserve it, and those who gained enough had access to things such as exclusive forums and things like that.

People who spam the mods for karma should have it taken from them.

yeah, but the problem was the fact that there are thousands of bungie members. The mods said they wouldnt like that

Here is the thread I started on this subject. Achronos and the mods submit their opinions and ideas here.

I went back 40 pages to find this damn thread.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

Bungie said this:
The new Karma system will work behind the scenes, and there will be NO user input.

Or something along those lines.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

I don't like the idea of a member )who I may or may not be on good relations with) affecting how others see me. People would "bribe" others with Karma. "Let me take over this group and I'll boost your Karma!" I like the idea of a master person though. Mabye their identity would remain hidden? Nobody knows who the "master Karma" people are.

I used to like the idea of having the Karma System. If you really think hard about it... you'll find out that there are more perks and twists. I dont think it's that necessary.

Hmmm, I really don't think it's necessary. Perhaps if anything, a system where the moderators can hand out "levels" to dedicated users and valued community members. Perhaps, an awards system like on RvB where each moderator would have an "award" they hand-out to different users. Then, each member's awards would be displayed in their profile. That could be a fun way to gain the moderator's respect for new members, as well as allowing older members to show themselves as candidates for becoming a moderator in the future.

A user controlled karma system would probably become a popularity contest. If there is to be one at all, bungie should control it.

I never thought a Karma System would work. I agree, they r just problamatic, but many members want 1. But maybe instead of having members do the giving out, maybe only people who got points from the master karma person could give out.( the number of karma that the master karma person gave them.) However, the people that these members(that got karma from the master) give karma to, cant give that karma 2 others.

The more simple a system is, typically the more reliable it is. I am sure there would be unforeseen consequences that could outweigh any positives. I agree that it would give people one more thing to complain about.
