It will only turn into a flame war if someone's stupid and turns it into one by insulting someones oppinion or harassing another member. As long as they don't do that, it should be fine, and for those who do, they will be dealt with accordingly.
Anyways, back on subject...In my oppinion, halo 1 is much better than halo 2 for the following reasons (At least, in my oppinion):
-In the halo 1 campaign, I felt as though I was on a mission...The levels felt more "real" and it seemed everything had a purpose, however, with halo 2 I just felt that the storyline was more confusing...for lack of a better word. It just didn't feel the same, it felt unfinished, as did many aspects in halo 2. BTW...Did anyone notice there was no great battle for Earth that was expected of halo 2? It's because when M$ gained Bungie, they set a deadline and Bungie had to comply, so they were forced into rushing it (at least that's the best of my understanding, please correct me if I'm wrong, although I'm sure it didn't help that we were screaming for a release date either).
-The multiplayer of halo 1 I feel is many many times better than halo 2s. First of all, the physics of halo 1 just feel much smoother and seem easier to deal with than the jumpy almost glitchy physics of halo 2. Id rather have to lead the target a bit than to glitch through someone and have them melee me from behind after i get bluescreened. Also, The weapons had a set respawn in halo 1, and both teams had an equal chance of setting up for the next powerup/weapon respawn. However, in halo 2, you either have to wait untill someone drops the powerup/weapon or uses it up. It's much harder and much more random to set up for the next weapon and takes out an entire skill factor out of halo. The spawn points of halo 1 were much better, you could control where you could spawn or not spawn your teammate, and many times you could find where the enemy was going to spawn and set up accordingly. Again, much of that skill factor was taken out of halo 2.
-In halo 1, unless both boxes were modded and using the same mods (with the exception of modded box names and glass walls) there was no cheating with mods. However in halo 2, there is the massive cheating over XBL all the time. I know that there is something being done about it, and Bungie is trying their hardest and doint what they can do, but it's not enough, and unfortuneately probably never will be. Sure there were many glitches in halo 1, but they weren't as exploitable. Infact, many of the glitches such as backpack reloading and double meleeing are almost just as natural as if someone had put them in the game on purpose.
I'm not in any way saying that halo 2 is a bad game and everyone should stop playing it, infact I think that halo 2 is better than just about everygame with the exception of halo 1. It's just that I hope that Bungie takes more time with halo 3 (if it's going to be made, which I'm nearly positive it will be) and makes it into a game unlike halo 2 and more of a game that incorporates more of a feel like that of halo 1. Id rather have to wait a couple more months/years than to have a rushed game like halo 2 be made again.
