I said it. And yeah, I'm one of those types of people to gloat so...I SAID IT. Last year I said if Bungie didn't clean up their act, they'd find themselves spending face time with a lawyer.
Unfortunatly, Halo PC is now too old. It has reached the status of legacy software, something that is too outmoded to compete with newer "versions" of itself, and so will no longer be supported. Oh, if there were a security issue to your PC because of Halo, then they might release a new patch. But turning on FF or fixing the servers to provide clean language and fair play? Nope.
My advice. Save the money you were going to spend on that lawyer and buy a better system. Drop Halo (its a memory eater anyway) out of your hard drive for the newer titles, the better games out there today. Battlefield 2, the latest Diablo, Doom and Halflife 2. If you want to know that the game will be supported, go with MMOs and MMORPGs: Guild Wars, World Of Warcraft, Everquest 2. Graphics are better, the last two have 24 hour moderating and all have regular support and patches with new content and fixes for issues as well as some type of bug reporing system. Thats what I did. I only come in here to check my guides for new questions (which I found out are now locked so even that is a waste of my time). Toodles Maw; it was a fun ride.
Stear clear of Microsoft when you can. They don't make the best software, and they damn sure don't make the best games (keep in mind, the Halo everyone loves--Halo1--was created by Bungie before it was bought out and swallowed whole by M$. That Bungie is dead, digested and buried now. Only the name remains.
The NEW Bungie is a subsidiary of M$, and so integral to their keeping consoles alive that the idea of them spending time on a PC game is downright silly. You know what I mean by consoles; those little toddler toys just about everyone in the Maw has outgrown.
Fair warning though: if you stick with FPS online games, expect to see a lot of TKers, rascist 13 year olds, and hackers. They're everywhere. While these companies may have a moral obligation to protect their users from them, they do not--as yet--have a legal one. Who knows; maybe you'll bring on some new legislature in that department--
*waits for the rest of the Maw to stop "booing" him for egging n0d3z320 on*
--and make online gaming a better place for eveyone. Not today, not tomorrow, but years and years (and many thousands of dollars) and years from now.
To everyone out there in Haloland
Play Fair, Good Gaming, and Goodbye
