If you under-estimate the ability of the PC to play games then you obviously have no idea what you're talking about, but, a computer that is worth £200 won't be able to play games better than a 360 unless you got it used/for a REALLY good deal, which, computers in the UK usually cost fortunes more than the ones in the US.
(Ex. $300 for a certain computer in the US ~ £800 for the same in the UK)
What?
No-no-no- People are clearly OVER estimating consoles.
And also, you've got the conversions wrong.
It's a larger value in the US than it is in the UK.
It would be about $320 in the US, cause multiplier is about 1.5-6 in our economy.
I didn't get a really good deal, I got what I payed for, this comp can run Crysis Sandbox 2 at just under 30 FPS on DX10 settings when the about 360 can only manage Cryengine 3 on DX9 with constant bottlenecking sue to lack of an l2/l3 cacheTrust me, I don't over-estimate consoles in the least bit. As I've said before, if the 360 didn't exclusively run new Halo titles I'd throw it out the window in a heart beat.
If you look at straight economic conversion, a USD isn't as much as a Pound, but, when looking into computers the price is much higher in the UK. Trust me, I know this due to my girlfriend having to buy a laptop while she's over there. When we were shopping around for computers the prices were much higher for the same computers. I'm sure anyone here who knows the differences will agree.
£200 is around the price to get a graphics card that beats the consoles into the ground, but, the entire computer would cost more.
(P.S. Last time I checked the Pound was 1.63x the worth of the USD. Just in case you need that knowledge later on)
Edit: Just checked prices on the laptop my girlfriend bought. In America, the cost is $634. In the UK it's £666.65 [One evil price ;) ] When you convert the price over to USD (£ x 1.63 = USD) it ends up at $1,086.64
Just as a side note, you can't get an i7 for £200 anywhere. Either you bought this from some guy who has no idea what he was selling or you're making it all up.
Unless you're talking about the extreme editions, most i7 CPUs are around £200.
EDIT: You don't need i7 to beat the 360 :/
An i3 could beat it.
