Cortana 5 is a carbon-based lifeform that frequently visits these forums, currently residing in the United States. Practically every male on the site responds to her posts.

The Joyeuse IP Formula

The new studio is in the downtown area, next to a Barnes and Noble in Bellevue Galleria, while, like you said, Smith and Tinker are near Bellevue college.

I know that there's a good number of people from FASA who jumped ship to Bungie. I'm afraid to say that it's something more than an homage, but there's a possibility that rule #39 may apply here.

If it's any indication towards anything relevant, here's freedorian. If we're to assume that these new trademarks have any relation to FASA, we may want to take a look at the New Monarchy trademark.

Oh, and ONE more little thing to keep you thinking...

Eastern Wyoming, actually. But I spend a lot of time in the Seattle area.

The 90? I loled. I'm pretty sure Cortana is in Western Washington so she probably would have know what you were talking about anyways.

Cross-platform studios don't really need to create a new corporation to code for another platform on the same game.

The first thing I thought of was Crimson Skies... the great original Xbox Live (launch?) title & popular PC title.

Then you start looking at the parallels, the coincidences and the connections... <nothing like conspiracy theories right?>

The name "Aerospace" and the main setting & theme of Crimson Skies?

The company that created Crimson Skies was FASA who's roots are in Chicago. But they were bought by and controlled by Microsoft. Sound familiar? Guess who else originally hails from Chicago? Yes, Bungie.

FASA's founder, Jordan Weisman now has created a new company (Smith & Tinker) and secured shared control of the Crimson Skies IP (licensed from Microsoft). The company is in Bellevue literally down the street from the also once Microsoft-owned Bungie in Kirkland.

Think some of these guys run in the same game circles?

Back to Jordan Weisman, creator of Crimson Skies... he also founded 42 Entertainment, the creator of the Halo 2 ARG "ilovebees".

Oh, and he also founded another company (Fyreball) with Pete Parsons who some may remember as "Mango"... a rather well known Bungie employee. That company is now called Meteor Solutions...

Anyway lots of parallels and coincidences and connections. Just thought it was quite interesting... call me crazy.

Talking about Crimson Skies remember Sage Merill (Lead sandbox designer) was in the Devteam of this game for the original Xbox. I remember last year when he talked about all the experience acquired during the conception of CS who help him to create Long Night of Solace level...

Think about this guys, it's more and more possible that the new i.p has some sort of Aerospace phase.

  • 05.12.2011 10:47 AM PDT

To be clear, while this is kinda fun to speculate, I do think this is just a collection of coincidences.

Still a FASA/Bungie collaboration could be interesting...

I know it was Weisman's intent, going back to 07 to continue Crimson Skies and the Mech series...

Add this to the coincidences:

Smith and Tinker trademarked the name "Kapow!" on April 11. (link)

I sense a "Blam!" reference here.

Also, S&T is working on another FASA studio remake: MechWarrior. There's a chance they could be working on Crimson Skies, or this might all be kaput because they would be too busy with MW.

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

This is all very confusing, yet exciting. It'll be fun to look back at this thread in a couple years too see how good of guessers we are. :p

Could it be said that Bungie is living in Freedonia right now?

I forgot about Sage! That is a very interesting point, though. It would add up to have Bungie do something like Crimson Skies and/or Long Night of Solace.

Hummm...Bungie said they wouldn't make an appearance at E3 but Bungie Aerospace could....That would be a slick move.

At first I thought I'd be a mobile game developer that simply made games for Iphone and such. However, reflecting back to GDC 2010 and Aerospaces motto, it sounds like something revolutionary.

Activision will probably announce something related to Aerospace/Bungie's next project at E3, so I would expect to hear something about what they're up to fairly soon.

Like Bungie would let Activision ruin the suprise.

Activision will probably be like:
"Anyway that is our presentation over and ... erm ... Bungie are working on a MMO. WHOOPS!"
(Not like Bungie would work on a MMO, they already said they're not, just a example)

This is really getting kind of confusing with all of this being found. I can't wait to see how all of this is going to end up being put together, I'm getting curious about it all. I hope we get some kind of announcement or hit soon enough.

  • 05.13.2011 8:36 PM PDT

I just see Activision ending their press conference ending with a video. No talking just a teaser.

It might not be up to Bungie though depending on the terms of their contract. I highly doubt we won't hear anything at E3, it makes sense to announce their next project there for numerous reasons. If Bungie's not attending in their own name that leaves Activision left to announce it. Although Bungie could send someone to speak at Activision's event. A lot of developers do this.

Subject: Bungie Aerospace is now a cooporation.

I like to think of myself as an AI - I hunger for information, and I know, one day, that hunger will be my ultimate demise.

I would just like to say that I called this a few weeks ago. It was in a thread where a newbie asked "what's Bungie Aerospace?". At first I was just going to put the same old "We don't know yet", but then I thought 'why does everyone think it's a new game, It doesn't sound like one...'. So then it hit me and I said that it might be Bungie's 'New Hawtness' again. It makes sense really. For every Bungie game there has been some kind of site update, even if it wasn't big. Now that they're on a totally new series, I bet they are gonna do a whole site shift to help with the new influx of multi-platforming gamers.

Do I get a cookie now?

I've been calling it since the beginning. I feel like the only one who looks up the trademark pages anymore!
