Has the classified public forum helped you? Is it an effective way of recruiting new members?

  • 01.25.2006 8:24 AM PDT

well, i personally never have even been in the forum, but when OFG was recruiting, everyone posted there like 10 times a day, so i guess it worked well.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

I don't know if we have gotten any members out of it. Most of ours come through invites. I will say though it does help keep the advertising threads out of the other forums.

I'd say that messages in your sig work, or invites via the PM system work much better than the Classifieds. At least in my experience.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

The classifields are uselss compared to the sig.

  • 01.25.2006 9:12 AM PDT

It probably doesn't work that well.

But it's better than spamming people with PM invites.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.

Could not have put it better myself. I'm almost fed-up with invite PMs and well, The Classifieds can work. I mean, what have you got to loose from advertising there? Nothing. What have you got to gain? Everything.

I use it from time to time, but I think it's definitely on the low end of effectiveness.

I like using the signature.

I only like to PM people I know or who are interested in that kind of group. I will not just spam people.

The Classifieds are a waste of time. But if Bungie brought back the Chapter Spotlight however...

And I never join any groups that spam me with invites or have a signature in their thread saying

JOIN R GROUP! 5GABILLION MEMBERZ!!!

And signatures like this really make me angry.

my group! I need members. http://www.bungie.net/chapter/pos
click on my name and my groups and its the fird 1.

The members you want are those who find it all by themselves.

  • 01.25.2006 10:40 AM PDT

Yeah, the group i am putting a lot of work into just now advertises in the classifieds, but i don't think anything comes of it. We try and get members we know, then they tell their freinds etc etc...But the odd thing is We have 46 members. Three of which are bungie.net Moderators, which is weird.

We must be doing something spectaculary right....

Well I think that the classifies help a little but PM is the best way to go. I get roughly about 3 people each time I post in the Classifieds and yest I average about 10 invites I average about 8 new members. Signatures work but not very well. I'd say about the same as classifieds.

The classifieds don't really help unless someone else is posting there...Because people don't nessecarily poke their head in there every so often do they...

PMing seems to be the most effective. The Classifieds isn't really person to person.

PMing sucks,

I have about 15 JOIN PMs in my inbox from this month alone.

Some from the same people
Some for the same group

Stop sending me PMs

ahhhhhhhh!

But maybe if that dam Search Feature that has been coming soon for over a year now then maybe people would use the classefields.

Only the paranoid will survive!

I HATE getting group invites via PM. It's so aggrivating. Often times I'm waiting for a PM I actually want to read, I see the inbox icon and think it's there only to see the generic "It's a great group... blah blah blah... Sniper... resources, activity, blah... Join now! [insert cheesy motto]"

But I have never had any remote amount of success with the Classifieds.

How do you respond to the PM's though? I thank them, and politely decline. To me there is no sense in being rude and not answering them. Now I don't get that many group invites because I don't have a cool name like Pimp at Sea. :) The ones I do get though I at least respond to.

I thank them and rarely I will check out the group. I don't blame people for wanting to grow their groups, however, I do not like generic pms. If you are going to invite someone, find out something about them and treat them with respect.

Personally I don't go out LOOKING for a group to join, so the Classifieds is useless (to me). I only joined some of the old school groups through suggestion and signatures.

Seriously, "Myth" and "Multiplayer" in the same sentence captures me every time... *dreamy eyes*

Good point. Maybe bungie will eventually update the classifieds with search options, group spotlights, and other innovations.

I agree with that completly. I have a semi large group, thats not that active , but just being the leader people want to get me in their group . I get alot of random msgs, "Please join my group , will make you admin when you join" , i reply "How many mebers does it have i normaly get a reply with a member count of 1-5 if that person ever comes back to bungie.
