Subject: Face or No Face?

Hypothetically speaking: If The Novel, The Fall of Reach, was adapted for film, would you want to see the chief's face.

There are many times in the book when he has his helmet off. So I'm just wondering if it would be acceptable to see it.

Or do you think there is a way to do the film without seeing it. Or perhaps you don't think TFoR should be a movie. Please comment speculate.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

I have seen you future

It would be possible to show MC without a helmet but show his face, using clever camera angles and lighting. It shouldn't be done more than once in the movie to avoid being cheesy, but it could be done.

By the way, Master Chief is a faceless character who is meant to be a vessel for the player to project themselves onto. He should stay faceless.

Chief's face is all over Halo: Bootcamp.

He is no longer a faceless hero. And I'm glad.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing the Chief's face, BUT, they have to cast someone who A: actually looks like his discription, and B: is approrate for the character. But we all know Hollywood will cast whoever is popular at the time.

This, speaking of Bootcamp, is it any good? I haven't read it yet and I want some reviews before I buy it.

No, definitely not, Chief has been without a face for 10+ years now, he should remain amongst the faceless. I honestly really like it that way, I think it's better that he remain faceless, it adds a sense of mystery and estrangement to his character which I really like, same with Noble Six.

Chief should've never been a faceless character. He has a backstory, we know nearly everything about him. We've played as him for three games, read three books from his point of view, and we've had his face described to us before. Scared, pale white, brown hair, (had freckles and a gap in his teeth as a child.)

Meh, I disagree, but that's just my opinion, I think he's much better as the faceless. And we've never really been given a description of him as an adult, only as a kid. I think Chief should be left as he is. Frankly I believe it would make more people displeased that it would make people happy.

And just because he has a backstory doesn't mean he has to have a face, like Boba Fett had some backstory going on before Episode II came along, but as far as I know his face was never shown until Episode II came along and gave us Jango as Boba's biological template.

Agreed, I think I'd like it to be a somewhat unknown actor, so you wouldn't feel like "oh it's the guy who played so and so". And I'd still want them to dub in Steve Downes.

They should just make an HLG playlist then you guys can hide against each other and see how much fun it is.

There are plenty ways to avoid to show a person's face in a film.

Personally I'd be disappointed to see Chief's face. At most I could support a something blurry like this.

I would prefer if he was unknown that way he has that mystique that makes you imagine how his face looks.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I'd perfer not to see his face, but if the movie were to be about The Fall of Reach, than we would obviously see his face.

That's what I was thinking. I think there are too many scenes where camera-play to avoid his face would just be so obvious.

Although I do think it would be cool if we see his face up until he puts the armor on for the first time, and even though we've already seen his adult face, he truly becomes Master Chief and we don't see it again. But even then, there are a bunch of times he has his helmet off or is in his dress uniform.
