Hi!

I have been running Halo on a rather low end laptop for a while and I have noticed that I get better graphics if I go in safemode. (even better if I disabled some of the stuff manually) My question is, how do I get into safemode - the same safemode the game asks me to go in if the game crashes. If I try to go in through the dos prompt, all it gives me is a windows safemode (how do I get that full screen?) and no sound. (while when the game asks if I want safemode, it includes sound)

So, in short - how do I go in the same safemode the game offers me when it crashes? Thanks!

PS - Yes I have read the FAQ and know the commands such as -safemode and that sort, but what I am looking for is not included there....

just change your "halo.exe" to "halo.exe -safemode"

what he means to say is in the properties of your shortcut in the target line add -safemode to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\Halo.exe"

so it looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\Halo.exe" -safemode

you must make sure to put a space AFTER the quotation mark before entering -safemode or it wont work

well in that case just replace -safemode with -useff.
that basically puts the graphics as low as they can get without having graphics lol

Ok, I tried that, but its still not the same as when the game offers samemode.

I currently tried -useff and -safemode - any other suggestions? Thanks!

Can you explain what you mean by "the same?"

Are you modyfing this "target?"

-useff -width640

then go into video settings and disable all you want.

that should be just about exactly what that safemode does. as close as you can get.

i know exactly what you are talking about. when i had windows 98 and a radeon 9000 i ran halo like that cause halo always yelled at me that my drivers were unstable.

Please edit and don't bump. It takes up space.
