If he's as strong as Obi-Wan, then the Spartan. Obi-Wan is an outrageous sword dueler for a Jedi (being a Guardian) and would likely walk all up and down the Arbiter in a CQB. But at range, he's less so, especially since blocking a bullet is not the same as blocking a bolt of plasma.

The force can be used to create shields

I know; believe me, I'm a big Wars fan, I know. But would that be Obi-Wan's first thought? Assuming neither of them know anything about the other, A Jedi would be ignorant of a Spartan's strength and agility, and the Spartan likewise of the Jedi's powers. Thing though is, Spartans are expert tacticians and are basically super ninjas. If they realise that this guy is a psychic, then they'll change tactics.

And before you say that the Force could tell the Jedi where the Spartan was, they're not perfect. The Force gives the weilder a combative edge, not invunerability. Jedi have a long history of being fooled.

Look at Anton from KotoR II, he killed Jedi for a living and he was only human. He said once you figure them out, its actually quite easy to fool them.

And Obi-Wan was, while a primary character, was no more powerful then any other Jedi Guardian class. Guardians focus less on Force training and more on Lightsaber training; Counselers are the opposite.

And all in all, if Obi-Wan tried to hack him to death with the lightsaber, he'd still first have to get past the shield AND the Spartan's strength and speed. A lot of Wars defenders have a tendency to make out Jedi/Sith as if they were demi-gods, as if they were ALL Starkiller. They were not. They were still human (or whatever race they were).

The Spartan has the advantage of the MJOLNIR armor which gives him full battlefield details, superior strength, energy shields, reaction speed of aproximately .02--give or take--seconds and superior accuracy. Coulpled with ranged weapons you'd have to be foolish to try and block with a lightsaber.

Obi-Wan (who this effectively amounts too) has the Force. And being a Guardian, the Force is his last thought. He'd try and get in close, while getting pummled by bullets, with no armor, and would likely get the saber ripped out of his hands if he did take a swing.

Go outside.

Judging by that comment your one of those trolls who spend their time insulting others on the internet. Perhaps it is you who needs to go outside?

Anyway, force lightning to overload shields and then force choke. It's more likely that the Sith would win. The Spartan would beat the Jedi because they're easily fooled and up them selves.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Heavy armor and big guns is nothing to the force.

For fun, let's toss in a non-human, and not jedi force user.

Shi'ido sith assassin. I'd LOVE to see a Spartan kill one of those.

Shi'ido are 'perfect shapeshifters'. They can mimic any humanoid race perfectly, even going into shapes of non-humanoids. They could form their arm into a shield against the bullets, or simply make a hole in the chest as the Spartan punches, then trap his arm. They could even turn themselves into flying creature, then turn back damn close and strike with lightsaber/lightsabers.

Sith assassin. The sith who kill their target before the target knows they are being attacked. Stealth specialists, very deadly.

I got the assassin part, it was the first bit that required clarification. And if that's the new contest, the Spartan gets a Hunter pair.

I'm not changing the situation at all. We are still having a spartan vs a FORCE USER (No species listed, nor preference of powers, simply a force user of Obi-wan's power *assuming they mean Master Obi-wan*).

  • 05.12.2011 2:42 PM PDT

Since we are debating lightsabers and energy swords, I'll bump this up.

  • 05.16.2011 6:14 PM PDT

why yes. yes i would. you read me like a book.

  • 05.24.2011 3:24 AM PDT

Please, no hurt! Me like Elites. Brutes stinky bad bad. Me stay here, make sure no Brutes come behind mighty Arbiter. Heh, heh... Eh?

I hate to say this but :(
Jedi/sith would win.
Lightsabers and the force,Hah cheat!!

Jedi/Sith.

I sincerely doubt the Spartan would last 10 seconds.

A shape shifter such as that would need to be destroyed by an explosion, but yeah, a Spartan would likely die.

And if by Assasins you mean Lord Sion's Assasins from KotoR II, then they aren't too impressive. While tough yes, they're human Elites. They have stealth camo, nbut are basically dudes with knives and swords. It'd be no different then fighting an invisible Elite (who kill their targets before they know they're there), except Elites are stronger.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that Spartans and Jedi are too evenly matched; it depends entirely on who the Spartan/Jedi is and what weapons they have. General run of the mill Spartans and Jedi are too close to call.

  • 05.24.2011 6:27 PM PDT

I wasn't talking about those guys. I was talking more along the line of the Sith assassin specialty class you can play as.

If the Force is used, then the Jedi/Sith. Simply because one cannot stop something that can alter the physics of what you are doing.

If no Force is used, then it's even. The lightsaber could destroy the bullets as they fly, while the grenades could be dodged. Since a lightsaber is the same a an energy sword, the armor is irrelevant.

TL;DR
Force = Jedi/Sith
No Force = toss-up

Sith would kill him in seconds, The Spartan wouldn't even have a chance to shoot before being Force Choked or being shocked by lightning or being pushed by, jezz the force is endless.

You can't really say the Jedi without the force, without it, the Jedi cannot hold the lightsaber which makes it an uneven fight.

A jedi without the force is weak as hell. Because they rely on it so much.

However, we can limit it to simply "No active force powers." Meaning force push and such is out.

however, some sith, maybe even jedi wouldn't be affect that much by it.

Why limit it? Make it fair and not give Spartans a gun if you put it that way. Any assault rifle is obviously overwhelming for Jedi. Commander Cody's specialized SMG is basically just like the Halo SMG except with blaster ammunition, and that weapon alone killed dozens of Jedi with such a great ROF. It simply isn't fair unless Force is in the equation.

The Force is to Jedi as bullets are to Spartans.

The only saving grace the Jedi has is the Force; it'd be unfair to take away their active Force powers. Otherwise, bullets are to Jedi as a silver knife is to a werewolf.

But as I've been saying, which ones? A Sith with Force Storm would fair better then a Sith with Force lightning. Or a Jedi with Battle meditation would fair better then one without it.

It depends completely on the Jedi's specialties. Some would die while others would pwn.

The Force is NOT limitless; to each individual, it works in different ways.

no to small nova nuke or whatever it was called :)

  • 05.25.2011 3:24 PM PDT

I'd have to give this one to the Spartan II. Considering their tactical thinking and reaction time, I think that one could pop-off BR rounds faster than a Jedi could predict their paths, or concentrate calmly enough to stop a half-ton of killing machine moving at 90 MPH.

It's very subjective, though. It would come down to a particular Jedi and Spartan's strengths and weaknesses. If Mandalorians could drop Jedi in the war, than a Spartan II would certainly have an excellent chance, considering the kinds of things that they're known for. The two contenders are very much alike in many ways; trained since childhood, immense mental and physical advantage over most enemies, and uncanny tactical reasoning and willpower.

Neither group is completely death=proof, but I'm thinking that an SII just may be slightly more so.

"The end begins, with chaos!"

As the Jedi is using the force find the Spartan, he gets a CHIEF brand bullent in his head. Then again, the Jedi could just mind trick the Spartan into shooting himself. lol

Thing is with this particular topic. It's not limited to jedi. It's simply a force user. Also, they don't have to "Sit still and think heavily." to use the force to stop a Spartan, likewise they don't have to think to predict bullet paths. That's part of precognition, a passive, always active force ability.

3 years and only 1 ban, try harder next time noobs.

The spartan would get wrecked, don't get me wrong spartan's are good, but jedi are a whole lot better. A more fair contest would be spartan vs. a mandalorian(sp). Now that would be a fight.
