I just posted this on the waypoint fourms and I want to see what you guys think
(this isn't reach related and i don't know where else it would go)

I think its safe to assume that at some point master chief's story will be picked up from the end of halo 3. The question is who is left to fight? However this should not keep the game from having more enemies tahn in past halo games! Here is my ideas for possible opposition.

Neo Covies: Basically the fanatic remnants of the covenant empire there would be several sects such as a guerrilla warriors and such.

Insurgents- The Human opposition to the unsc (pretty straight foward

The flood- The flood from halo 3 with numerous new forms, gravemind even said that he would return, this should be the most terrifying of the enimies

The Guardians- Mother effing Robotic Foreunner killing machines

The Libraian- An ai that you never actually see that can control the enviroment around you (this turns the enviroment against you, If you get to a control center you can turn some of them on your side and control the enviroment yourself, think about those draw bridges in that one mission in halo wars), (has some potential for multiplayer and firefight right ?)

Wildlife: gueta, moas and such

Tell me what you think and some of your own ideas and maybe we could influence 343's design decisions :)

Let's not kid ourselves: 343i isn't going to do anything radical with the Halo series, there's too much money at stake. You'll be fighting the same enemies you've been fighting for ten years.

Yeah! ten year old enemies! Awesome!

- Sentinels
- Brutes
- Possibly Grunts, Jackels, Drones, and Hunters

We need something radical though, in order to keep the series interesting! I was thinking, you land in some god forsaken planet and it starts off Jurassic Park style. Later on, the story starts to unravel, and you uncover lost/abandoned artifacts from forerunner projects. Running dry on your current ammo, you use these prototype weapons to defend yourself from monstrous flood that currently arrive. Corona picks up on the suspicion that the flood is suddenly after you for a reason.

Can anyone pick up from the story from there? Or does this start sound good?

In terms of story, I would like the twist of a Forerunner being an enemy, and MB helping MC take him down.

I would love to see a pre-Covenant Halo, where the enemies you fight are various factions of the Innsurection. It would be gritty and dark, much less black-and-white then the other games.

The Flood no doubt.

Covie loyalists maybe.

Brutes would be the only covenant to keep fighting because they are the only ones that really cared. I can tell you right now the librarian would never actually fight anything especially a human.

Covenant wise all we would have are the brutes and elites that still believe in the great journey.

The Librarian was/is a Forerunner, not an AI.

Obviously you haven't read cryptum or the terminals.

My mistake, I have read the terminals, but I must have read something wrong.

I hope 343 do do something radical.

I would rather they tried to make it different than just make it the same old stuff (unless the story is still set in the Human-Covenant War).

I like the idea of fighting the Librarian. Perhaps the Librarian has gone rampant, and you aid the Forerunners in their 3-way battle between them, the AI and the Flood?

Librarian wouldn't do anything like that unless her life was at danger. Her title alone goes in hand with this.

Didact also wouldn't really fight a human more or less anything without reason.

And seeing how this is post-halo I know for a fact the librarian wouldn't do anything unless shot at (even then she would probably say she deserves it an understands) And the did
act wouldn't do anything unless he or he wife we in danger, he would also understand.

Make a poll on it then. Meeting the forerunners should be a sense of Awe and even some rage. not a repeat of the last couple of games.

  • 05.10.2011 11:49 AM PDT

Whilst I can accept it is probably quite a bad idea (looking back at it) I fail to see how it would be the same as the last few games. Surely you would still be able to make the Forerunners awe inspiring and maybe even slightly hostile, inducing a greater sense of fear and respect from the player? They are characters I would like to see expanded on in-game.

  • 05.10.2011 12:00 PM PDT

It will be similar to ODST. Chief explores the Legendary Planet between numerous flashbacks to well known events from the books, both in the form of cutscenes and actual gameplay.

I have read both, and my favorite part of Cryptum?

When Born/Didact meets/reunite with the Librarian.

In the flesh.

The Libraian- An ai

What are you smoking? the Librarian is NOT an A.I.!
Before Cryptum was released it could have been speculated. But with the release of Cryptum it is certain that the Librarian is a Forerunner.

"I saw the Librarian.
My wife.
Here, she did not wear armor"

"she approached me slowly, eyes quizzical, face wreathed in a
complex expression of joy, pain, and something I could only see as youth." Quoted directly from Halo: Cryptum
