It depends. Obviously, a Spartan in Mk VI would win against an average soldier in a nanosuit, but all soldiers can use nanosuits whereas not all soldiers can use MJOLNIR. I would say in a 1v1, MJOLNIR wins, but in a war, Nanosuit wins.

But both are incredibly expensive, so while every soldier could wear the nanosuit, there's no way any army on Earth could afford to equip more then a select few. The UNSC has an advantage in that it's economy encompasses many worlds, allowing them to foot the bill for Mjolnir much easier.

I'd say this wouldn't span that far and would be a 1v1, but from what I've heard of Crysis, it would be damn close...

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

Again threads like these shouldn't be made unless you pick apart both sides so we can clearly see them.

I know from my knowledge thoose aren't all the pros and cons for Mark and i will assume the same for crysis armor.

Thus anybody in the thread is going to look at that and make a conclusion (which isn't enough info to do so). Then Somebody thats knows all about Mjolnir (like me) is going to end up "debating" with somebody that knows everything about the nanosuit.

Before even knowing anything i am going to say Mjolnir since you have to be augmented to even wear at and while you wear it you are enhance. so it is pretty much a X4 vs the nano suit.

It might be better to say SPI armor, though that might have the nano suit "win".

The book talks about bullets bouncing off of MJOLNIR armor. They were likely lighter rounds--not anything like a .30 cal--but even still.

I thought the Mjolnir enhanced the strength of the user, so wouldn't that cancel out the heavy weight for the user? Not to mention, the Mjolnir has 90 minutes of air and a breathing filter.

I have to say N2 (Nano-suit 2) over MJOLNIR. If you compare the two, you'll see even a Nano-suit 1 would defeat a Spartan II (though it would be an uber-close fight).

Armour: The MJOLNIR armour is made of titanium-A, a hyper-dense, yet light weight alloy designed to resist 2000 degree celsius and massive amounts of force (aprox. 1500 newtons of force) as well as shields comprised of a plasma window, with a wall of lasers underneath, then electron aligned carbon fiber nanotubes
N2 is comprised of three layers. One is a skin tight suit of carbon fiber nano tubes (the strongest element known to man and the primary strength of Halos energy shields)and bullet resistant, shock absorbant gel that also controls the users body temprature. After this comes a layer of Coltan-Titabnium, a modified titanium alloy thats stronger, yet lighter than standred titanium. Coltan titanium is also infused with nano-machines which repair it and and is abosbant of radiation, thus protecting the user from all but the heaviest of radiological attacks.
The exterior of the suit is comprised of self repairing, semi-organic Carbon fiber nanotubes, reinforced with Coltan-titanium and carbo-platinum (A Carbon-fiber nano-tube reinforced, nano machine enhanced, self repairing platinum alloy) The suit is enhanced by Armour mode, which re-directs energy to the suits outer armor, tightening the nano-tubes and providing aditional bullet deflection and protection, as well as increasing energy to life-support and suit-repair functions. The suit is also more resistant to super-heated plasma weapons, MJOLNIR is. While Titanium-A and energy sheilds are weak to the 3000 degrees celsuis tempratures of plasma weapons, carbon fiber nano tubes in real life are resistant to nearly 4500 degrees, far more than the plasma based weapons can produce.
Armor winner: Nano-suit 2

Speed: Unfortunatly unbalance for MJOLNIR, as the Nano-suits has an entire suit mode devoted to speed.
While the fastest speed acheived on a regular basis by a Spartan equiped with MJOLNIR is 75 KM/H by Kelly-087 and the fastest speed ever acheived was 105 Km/H by John-117 during the MJOLNIR-MK.V test.
The N2 on the other hand, has a standered sprint speed of 75 KM/H and a top speed (in small 3-5 second bursts) of close 300 KM/H, easily beating MJOLNIR.
In terms of rection time the Spartans are still outmatched. While MCPO Mendez reports that Spartans in MJOLNIR can react at
0.20 millisecinds, the N2 has a twitch reflex/reaction time of 0.08 milliseconds, much faster than the MJLONIR armor.
Winner: Nano-Suit

Strenth: Ah, finally, a real battle!
MJLONIR goes first. Put simply, Spartans are beats. Cyberneticly modefied beasts to be exact. Capable of lifting three times there own body weight with out MJLONIR equiped (aprox. 1000 pounds or 450 KG), this load in MJLONIR is increased by a factor of five. Five thousand pounds. almost two and a half short tons.
Unfoutunatly for longtime Halo fans like myself, N2 is back and better than ever.
While no exact strenth is stated in game or on the Crysis website or the Crysis wikia, the N2 is capable of kicking a 2 ton taxi cab almost 10 feet into the air and twenty feet forward, with enough force to smash an 9 inch thick concrete wall.
Winner:N2

Powerplant: A complicated matter, as the Nano-suit has no powerplant, yet technically has one anyways.
The Mjolnir armor uses an advanced Fusion power-plant, cabable of powering a Scorpion tank runing at full capacity for almost ten years straight, yet small enough to fit in the palm of a Spartan (aprox. six by six inchs in size), the only known atachment to activly cause the plant to near overload when used too long is armour lock, which can only be used for fifteen seconds before fusion power plant overload.
The plant can also power the suit for close to fifteen years of continiuse use.
The N2 activly collects energy on the other hand, and is pretty good at it too. cabable of collecting energy from thermal (heat in the air, sunlight, the operators body heat), radiological (the small amount of radiation that always surrounds us, radiation souces like powerplans and items containing akaline metals) carbon (rtting bodys and other decomposing organisms, the users dying skin tissues and hair and feces are also broken down into carbon and converted ito energy) and kinetic (the users movement), as well as the bio-electricty of the user and other living beings around him/her. However, the suit energy is quickly drained by continuse strenous activity though in canon it has less energy drain than that seen in games). The MJLONIR fusion plant however is continuse energy all the time
Winner: MJLONIR, though be warned: as the suit consumes radiation, if the spartan gets too close to the user, the suit will consume the energy given off by the spartan's fusion plant, allowing the N2 user to have unlimited energy

Visor: MJOLNIR has a highly advanced HMD (Head Mounted Display) , as well as thermal, night vision and five times optical zoom and a hardened uplink capable of intercepting nearly any radio bbased signal, allowing for unprecedented communications.
The MJOLNIR armor system can also protect the user from breathing in objects as small as 900 nanometers and uses selcetive hearing "a pin drop in a sandstorm"
The N2 on the otherhand, uses "Nano-vision" a thermal-night vision hybrid that allows for 3D imagry, something no other night-vision unit, even that of MJOLNIR is capable of.
N2 also supports a more advanced HMD and an automatic read out of the suit and users status, as well as a smaller and stronger visor (MJOLNIR is comprised of super-hartdend acrylic glass, while the N2 uses see-through Carbon fiber Nano-tubes).
The N2 also has 60 times zoom and the ability to augument the users eyes using naomachines, allowing them to see in the dark and double the users visual perception. The N2 can also protect against viruses, bacteria and gases as small as 500 nano-meters (which are then broken down into carbon and used to power the suit), as well as allow the user to hear a whispered conversation from almost five hundred feet away and is cabable of intercepting almost 6000 lines of communictaion, far more than MJOLNIR.
Winner:N2

AI: Cortana vs SECOND. Oh, this is gonna be good!
Cortana strikes first, with sentience. far more advanced (according to Halo:Reach, ten times so) then her nearest Smart-AI competitor, Cortana is constantly busy and is a hacker only matched by Forerunner AI, SECOND and EDI from Mass Effect 2. Funny, sexy and smart, Cortana is always usefull to have around (sorry, i couldn't much info on her tech).
SECOND is a non-sentient AI implanted in an N2 users head when they first aquire the suit. This AI latter become sentient due to its absorbtion of the DNA of former operative Prophet. SECOND is cabable of running a 1.5 BIPS (twenty time faster than the largest and most powerful super-computer today). Being inplanted in the users head, SECOND can also control hormone levels in the users head, make an N2 operator incabable of feeling fear, pain or failure, as well as operate as a suplimentry nervous system incase the user's is damaged, making the user invulnerable parylisis and even direct barin tramua.
Winner: unknown, insefficient data on the part of Cortana

Overall winner: Nanosuit 2

Mjolnir

Helmet: The MJOLNIR Helmet is one of the most vital aspects to the MJOLNIR system. It is made of titanium and contains key features like a Heads Up Display that links to the brain and hands, and can identify equipment and display information about it when it is picked up by the wearer. Another feature is the direct neural interface system which connects to a SPARTAN-IIs neural implants. Two core processor chips are implanted into the subjects skull in the rear of the head. This is essentially comparable to an on board computer using parts of the human brain for processing - when the connector at the rear of the subjects head and receptors in the brain link to the helmets on board sensors it creates the neural link needed to move the MJOLNIR suit. The helmet also contains other equipment to protect and aid the user in hostile conditions. This includes: filters to remove toxins from the atmosphere, a supply to provide air to the wearer during EVA, thermal and motion sensors, communications, solar-powered lighting, and imaging and video gear. The helmet also contains the A.I housing, where a ship-borne A.I chip is inserted, located on the back of the helmet.

Titanium alloy outer shell: The outer shell of the MJOLNIR armor is comprised of a fairly thick titanium alloy. This plating covers the chest, arms, hip, legs, calves, feet and hands. This alloy is very resilient, can take significant punishment, and is nearly impervious to small arms fire. While enough shots from armor piercing rounds will breach the outer shell, the suit can take a few glancing blows from them without compromising the armor. The outer shell of the all MJOLNIR suits is covered with a refractive coating to help disperse the heat experienced from Covenant energy weapons. However one or two direct hits from any Plasma weapon will compromise the armor plating.

Titanium nanocomposite bodysuit: Sandwiched between the external armor and the internal padding is a thick black armored bodysuit. This suit has numerous functions, small but vital to the safety and survival of the wearer. The bodysuit is made of a titanium-based material, making it very strong and yet very flexible. It also serves as another layer of protection against ballistics attacks and is coated with a heat resistant material to disperse heat from Plasma weapons.

Hydrostatic gel layer: Underneath the armored bodysuit is a gel-filled layer, this gel layer regulates the temperature of the suit and can re actively change its density to conform to the wearer's shape - the temperature inside the suit is controlled by the moisture absorbing cloth suit underneath the hydrostatic layer. The hydrostatic gel layer can also be pressurized to various levels to potentially save the wearers life should the wearer be subjected to high G forces or a high velocity impact; however, over pressurizing this layer can cause nitrogen embolisms.[7]

Polymerized lithium niobocene layer: Sandwiched between the external armor and the internal padding is a layer of piezoelectric material that deforms along a preferred axis when exposed to a electric charge. The material is first poured into a capillary system where electric charges can direct the crystallization and hardening process.[8] This layer acts as synthetic muscle, allowing the Spartan access to approximately twice their normal strength. This is not due to a "Leverage Effect," but rather that a human-sized suit will provide about six hundred kilos of lifting power, in addition to an average Spartan's six hundred kilos of lifting power. Assuming a Spartan has an average body weight of 200 kilos, and that CPO Mendez's assertion that: "They can lift three times their body weight- which, I might add, is almost double the norm due to their increased muscle density," is indeed accurate.[9]

Memory processor superconductor layer: A layer relatively new to the MJOLNIR line, introduced with the Mark V, that is capable of housing an A.I. Comprised of the same material as a starship's A.I. system, this layer allows an A.I. to travel with a soldier into the field. The A.I. can then aid the soldier in software inrtusion, hardware hacking, and espionage by listening to enemy chatter.[10] As a side note, this layer is often confused with the Reactive Metal Liquid Crystal layer, which due to the latter's piezoelectric properties is impossible.

Magnetic weapon holder strips: Available on the Mk. IV, Mk. V, and Mk. VI, the magnetic strips are very small yet powerful magnets place on the legs, waist, and back of the suit and is used to hold any equipment with a magnetic property. The suit also contains an electromagnetic system on the boots of the MJOLNIR suit that allow its wearer to stay attached to a metal surface in Zero G environments and can be toggled on or off by the wearer.

Energy shielding system: First used on the Mk. V, and later refined on the Mk. VI, the energy shield device is reversed engineered from Covenant technology. Begun in 2532[11] forty scientists and technicians would spend the next 20 years attempting to make some use of the technology. For decades the attempts at cracking their technology had met with failure after failure, some had given up and others in the scientific community believed the energy shield technology could never be cracked. However at some point before 2552 a breakthrough was made and for the first time the UNSC had successfully cracked and improved upon the technology.[12]

Pressure seal: The Pressure Seal is a vital component to the MJOLNIR system, it keeps the system airtight, underwater or in space. The seal is very strong and will only break under extreme pressure, such as in a high velocity impact or when the Hydrostatic Gel has been over pressurized.

Biofoam injectors: Introduced on the Black model and later used on the Mark VI, biofoam injectors is an integral part of the systems ability to keep a SPARTAN-II functioning in battle. Biofoam is a medical gel that is used to fill and seal a wound automatically, it is also used to treat any infection that could occur as a result of the wound. The process of injecting, or applying the gel to a wound is extremely painful and is only a temporary solution; medical attention must be sought soon after to ensure survivability.

Micro fusion reactor: The miniature fusion reactor is the most essential part of the MJOLNIR System, as it provides power to all equipment on the MJOLNIR armor; as the reactor is built into the suit and allows for nearly unlimited movement it is a substantial improvement over older technology. The fusion reactors in all versions of the MJOLNIR armor are about half the size of a normal fusion pack that conventional Marines use.[13]

Force-multiplying circuits: Located throughout the armor, these systems boost the force applied by the user. They make hand-to-hand combat easier, but also make the armor difficult to adjust to; a slight motion can be translated into a potentially harmful one if not conducted correctly. For this reason it is only possible for Spartans to use this armor, as their strengthened bodies are able to withstand the increased power and speed of movement, which, in un-augmented human bodies, results in broken bones or death, due to spasms caused by the pain of broken bones.

Reactive circuits: Reactive Circuits are systems installed directly linked to the SPARTAN neural interface. They amplify the wearer's reaction time by connecting directly to the thoughts of the wearer, making it much easier to control and allowing for the soldier to be both more efficient and have a higher survival rate in combat.

Power supply control unit: The power supply control unit controls the power supply of the armor.

If the Nanosouit existed in the Halo Universe it would definatly replace SPI armor for SPARTAN's III.
But MJORNIL would always be better.

  • 05.10.2011 2:56 PM PDT

The Nano-suit wins this battle hands down, for multiple reasons!

1) The main character in Crysis II is actual dead, he has a punctured heart, damaged spine and countless other wounds. He is kept alive entirely by the nano-suit, which won't let him die!

2) The stealth properties of the nano-suit are incredible, it requires no additions to have its stealth and it has impressive duration!

3) The nano-suit has no power supply, it actually draws power from its surroundings I believe, giving it limitless energy.

4) The nano-suit is semi-organic and adapts to changing threats, it is in-fact a weapon in every sense of the word, a weapon of mass destruction created from alien technology.

5) It is resilient as hell also, it displays way way more resilience than the MJOLNIR armour used by SPARTAN troopers, for example at one part in the game you die and your suit revives you, another part you are thrown out of an alien spire (what looks like 25+ stories and hundreds of metres!) landing on solid concrete, the suit survives and all the damage regenerates. also survives being hit by what can only be described as a tidal wave and washed away! fried by massive electromagnetic pulses, hit by Gauss weapons, temperatures of -100*C or lower in original game. the fact you can survive being hit by a Gauss rifle (which is like a one of those Gauss rifles from Contact Harvest and survive, should tell you how resilient the nano-suit is!)

"A LIE is a LIE"

- Truly intelligent and deep Black ops trailer

They both have different strengths and weaknesses.

I would say the biggest problem for the nano suit is the fact that energy has to be diverted to a specific spot.

A person using Mk.6 can use cloaking, run fast or excel in hand to hand while having a rechargeable shield that can deflect bullets and whatnot.

Also, Mk.6 can be outfitted with state of the art AI and a huge range of customisations which the nanosuit simply doesn't have.

SPOILER ALERT FOR CRYSIS 2:

The Nanosuit 2 can keep the user alive. Alcatraz is near death (Or dead), but the suit keeps him alive after Prophet puts the suit on him.

I think the Nanosuit wins in everyway except for the AI. And I actually think we're going to end up making a body armor suit that's a mix between Mjolnir and the Nanosuit in real life.

I did a comparison on the Flood, Nanosuit 2 won but not by much. MJOLNIR is way out matched by the N2 but the Spartan's years of training and cybernetic augmentation allowed him/her to match the nano-operative, however, the evolving capabilities of the N2 won the fight.

"The Nanosuit 2 evolves to combat its threats. Hit with a high heat explosion? The outer surface evolves to counter and is more resistant to explosions and heat afterwards.
User has a serious head wound? Nano machines are released into the skull through pores in the users head and repair the injury, at no cost to combat efficiency, as the AI SECOND takes over for the damaged portions of the operators brain. There is no way to beat an N2 operator short of completely destroying the suit, which would require massive amounts of heat, force and/or explosive capacity."

Which one would win? Both are powerful, with similar though differing abilities.

Mjolnir Mk. 6:

PROS:
-micro fusion reactor provides a nearly limitless supply of energy.
-energy shield which provides protection from a variety of threats
-reactive circuits and strength multiplying materials vastly increase physical performance
-comprehensive communication suite, capable of supporting starship-grade AI
-built in biofoam injectors allow wearer to survive serious injury

CONS:
-Heavy, weight can actually limit usage of vehicles or transport. Complicates med-evac
-suit requires extensive modification and training to use, capable of killing a normal human
-materials that form suit are non-regenerative, require repairs.

Nanosuit Mk.2:

PROS:
-suite capable of active camouflage, for limited periods of time
-nano materials capable of repairing themselves in the field
-nano machines also capable of repairing or supplanting damaged user tissue or organs
-plug and play technology, doesn't require any previous user training or prep

CONS:
-limited power supply requires advanced capabilities be used for only short periods of time
-overall construction less robust

Less robust? It is made out of Carbon Fiber Nanotubes, the strongest structure known to man. Its is more robust than MJOLNIR.
Also, the N2 has an unlimited power supply, as it absorbs power from the general area surrounding it, as well as the users own bio-electricity. It can essentially keep operating forever, while the MJOLNIR armour only has an operational life soan of fifteen years.

Yeah but there is not, so...

  • 05.10.2011 5:22 PM PDT

I wasn't talking about the suit's lifespan, I meant what amount of power the suit can deliver at any moment. All of the Nanosuit's superhuman abilities are availible on a limited basis. Yes the Nanosuit can run fast, but only for a short time, yes it can lift a man with one hand, but only until it's energy reserve runs out. Mjolnir is capable of preforming these feats as a matter of course.

As for Mjolnir being more robust, a fall of 4-5 stories is enough to seriously injure someone wearing the Nanosuit, even with armour mode engaged. Spartans in Mjolnir have survived falls measuring kilometers.

The Nano suit is NOT anywhere near as bullet resistant, and it sure as hell cannot run 300kph.

It only goes extreemly fast in the multiplayer version while the Mjolnir goes slower both for gameplay purposes.

Mjolnir also has a motion tracker, which can see through walls and floors without effort.

What about physical strength? I think its about equal, for example you can flip a car in cryis 2 with a kick and throw a human like 30ft, which seems comparable with Mjolnir.

I'd say its kind of a tie, I think Mjolnir is less refined but more sturdy and bullet proof, while the Nano suit is more about stealth and subtlety.
