Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

AI 6.0 (most of it was waisted)

Indeed, what happened with these actions 1:16,1:40 and 2:09.
I'm not complaining that reach AI should be more scripted, but Bungie wasted a lot of potential.

We should've been at the front lines, taking cover from plasma mortars and oncoming Banshees as swarms of Elites, Grunts, and Jackals approached head on to try to run us out of our positions.

That way they could've made the AAs more relevant to the plot, other than the short Bullfrogs-scene on Exodus, and introduce some strategy (timing locks and drop shields for mortars, sprinting onto a proning Scarab etc.)

While I don't agree that Reach's campaign is the best ever, anyone who wants Bungie to apologize is just ridiculous. They made a good game and because it doesn't fit with your preconceived mental image it is an utter failure. At least the game is playable unlike dozens of others games out there.
As for bloom and AAs we can't really complain a lot about that. Bloom prevents the game from being a victory for whoever shoots first and if you go far back enough in the Reach/Halo 3 forums I guarantee that you will find dozens of threads asking for jetpacks.

Mhm, I'm perfectly willing to agree to disagree on whether Reach is the best game or not, 'cause everyone's opinion is different. I don't really think it's the best one of the Halos, but it's definitely one of my favorites. Bloom could maybe use a few tweaks to make it better, but it is definitely not completely random or broken. And the AAs really don't change the game all that much, AL really doesn't peeve me that much, the AA that really gets me mad is Active Camo.

Nobody said Halo: Reach had to be the only game to be based on the Battle of Reach.

BLAM!

agreed 100% - they flaked on the story and we were left wanting.

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

I honestly don't see why people are complaining about AL. People say it gives the loser another chance but if you really are the better player, you should be able to beat him again. If they complain about it allowing the opponents teammates to help out, what is stoping you from going with your friends or retreating?

As for story, as it was it felt a bit like a TV season. Each level was a separate episode with some foreshadowing to what would happen next. Each level was pretty self contained except for a few.

Edit: What is the problem with not showing lots of big military bases? If I was an invading alien I would not attack all the big bases, that's like trying to defend yourself from a mugger by punching his knife.
I would attack outlying colonies like the farms that everyone seems to hate. Hide there, pick off people sent to investigate, cut off the military's supplies. With no supplies the defense falls and the planet is easy picking.

The Game Play Wasn't the worst bits of Reach, Infact it tended to be some of the best parts of the Game.(Outside of a few small Weapon and Single Player AI problems)

Its just the Story was amongst those stories that reside in the proverbial pit of horribleness and (Insert curse word here). While it didn't have to line up exactly with the book, the story certainly was lacking. It was almost as bad as CnC 4 in terms of Story and relating to previous games. I say Almost, because at least Halo: Reach kept mostly to the previously established way of doing things and felt like a halo game.

Nor do I really, I mean it does get annoying sometimes, but then so did camo, rockets, swords, snipers, and other stuff in Halo 3, and nobody ever really complained about them. I could understand giving it a couple tweaks or something, but there's not really any problem with it.

As for story, as it was it felt a bit like a TV season. Each level was a separate episode with some foreshadowing to what would happen next. Each level was pretty self contained except for a few.

Mhm, I can see where you're coming from. It didn't really seem like a TV season to me, but yeah, I can see how you'd make that connection. And it not as disconnected as people say it is. It's really only the Winter Contingency and ONI SWORD Base you can make that argument for. All the rest of the levels lead directly into each other more or less. Actually it's just about as connected as any other game in the Halo Trilogy >_>

Edit: What is the problem with not showing lots of big military bases? If I was an invading alien I would not attack all the big bases, that's like trying to defend yourself from a mugger by punching his knife.

I'd do the same, I mean on the ground it's a bit of a different story, but I wouldn't take my ship anywhere near something like the SMAC array until I had a bunch of reinforcements to back me up. That is what the entire purpose of the Covenant group sent with the Long Night of Solace strikes me as, an advance group sent to reconnoiter Reach and soften up its defenses and such by taking out stuff like Visegrad Relay.
And besides which, we saw much more military stuff than we ever did in any other Halo game. In fact, Reach looks more advanced than any Human place we saw in the Trilogy, so yeah, using the same logic that people calling Reach "some random farmer colony" are one could say that Earth is underdeveloped and is the random "farmer" colony >_>

I agree with you OP. Reach campaign was a huge disappointment. In the book Reach was attacked by 314 Covenant vessels. Where was that epic scale in the game? Reach didn't feel like humanity's largest military outpost at all in the game.
