What happens if you have the same name as someone who got banned? Will you be banned from a server too?

If you mean that if someone is banned with your same name, will you also be unable to join the server? Then no, as all games operate on CD-key identities. Games don't really recognize you by name - they check your CD-key.

However, if you have the name of some notorious f-tard and enter a server, you could get banned for having the same name [it's like walking around in the US with the name Osama bin Laden - you know you're gonna get your arse kicked].

I got some more feedback.

I was just playing, and I accidentally entered a modding server. Well, the modder's name was sleepyhead. Basically, on blood gulch, shade turrets were on the mountains and stuff...and their team had mostly fuel rod cannons and sniper rifles.

So I call sleepyhead a noob because of this unfair mod he uses on us; he swears in all caps at me twice.

So then I ask him if he is good at the game without mods. Then he said "Are you good at keeping your piehole shut?" Real mature.

Maybe he shouldn't be banned, but watch out--he's such an immature moron.

No when you ban someone there CD hash key is saved in the banlist. So THEY are banned not just the name.

No. That's not the reason why I posted this. The reason is to let everybody know who to watch out for.

BTW: Somebody should make this post sticky. (But I don't know how to do that).

You all talk about (ME)=King, but there might be 12 people that are of the same name.

No, but there are people with the same clantag. I've done this many times, and I'll do it again, I'll list all the ME Tkers in frequency of appearance.

(ME)=KING*
(ME)=SWIFTO (new)
(ME)=MORON*
(ME)=EMO*
(ME)=DON(new)

*often impersonated by many people.

EDIT: Here, is the link for the official discussuin of TKing retards. Keep all discussion there.

As far as I know (ME)=EMO isn't really a tker . I have played with him many times and he played the games pretty straight , besides the usual tk accidents that occur .The rest of your list though has all the tking (insert insulting word here)'s on it though. But please add TK Scias and TK Nvagn also.

Also on the list should be "Sparton" and "Censored". Censored will play straight if you make a truce with him though.

One horrable annoying event happened recently. I join a server with the map Island Hop. As soon as I got in I got kicked.

I rejoined and said:
Sev: Why did you kick me?
Player: Your a hacker.
Sev: Why do you say that?
Player: Your ping went to zero.
Player 2: Yea, I saw it too, you ping went to 0 for a sec.
*Operator has kicked you from the server!*

What on earth were they talking about!? How does ping going to 0 for sec mean I'm a hacker? I dont even have a dinky trainer even!!

I've seen that also, I think the server displays a zero while it's figuring out what the ping is. They're morons, don't lose any sleep over it.

Wait a sec. Someone in a different thread said that he got banned in a server, so he came back with a different name and could play. If bans are via CD Key, wouldn't that be impossible to do?

Grim Mouser,

I'll double-check with the gurus at gearbox for you, but, on the whole, SLD knows his stuff. So yeah - it would be impossible. I'll let you know what I find, or you can check it out for yourself if you don't want to wait. The thread I started is:

Here

Island Hop? This happened on CE? That's depressing.

That is just one of the reasons why I refuse to go back to CE.

Add to the banlist: Abby Trayer

Played with him on feb. 8th, Jolt.co.uk CTF server from abuot 1 am till 3 am GMT.

if i remember correctly it puts the cd key hash into the banlist.

which is what the guys on gearbox said.

if that guy was able to join with a different name he likely wasnt permanently banned.

in CE you can ban for a specific amount of time

Yep, that is correct.

And also in the standard Halo, you can get banned for a certain period of time. I've been banned before from the Bungie servers for accidental tk'ing.

I'm not bumping (whatever that is). I'm doing what I made this thread for. Another to be added is Jack. Why is there so many out there with names that start with "j"? Just a thought.

Bumping is when you double post to brung the thread back to the top, there's also a TKer thread that's already out there, starting silly threads like this only clutters the forum up, since there are already people discussing the SAME THING somewhere else. That's why I get pissed off when I see TWENTY diffrent threads about H2PC!

But I appreciate you doing this.
