Sure theres the PC edition, and the Custom Edition fo PC, and the non-online enabled edition for Xbox, but...I really think, [BUNGIE HEAR ME!] that Halo 1 [w/ the new maps & weapons & vehicles from pc edition] should be Xbox live online enabled! Maybe if we stand together brothers, Bungie will hear us.

To Make Posts is Glorious

Some threads will get posts before others and it is the duty of the Leadership to ensure that posts are made that best suit the public welfare.

"heh"

If they did rerelease it, it would further delay their next project.

So, no.

Where's that 'Intelligent View on Halo CE going Live' topic? >_>. That should be a sticky or something.

Would it be nice?

Yes.

Would it be a million seller?

Maybe.

Would it be worth all of the recoding and physics adjustments they'd have to make?

Doubtful.

Would people complain about the necessary physics adjustments for LIVE, complaining about Auto-Aim and magnetic bullets and the like?

Almost certainly.

Does anybody really want them to take time out of the next project to release a game that's already been released?

Certainly not.

Yes.

It would be amazing..

Would it be a million seller?

Maybe.

Yes.. over a million..

Would it be worth all of the recoding and physics adjustments they'd have to make?

Doubtful.

For the fans? Yes.. For the developers? Yes.. because they'd make crap loads of money.. I'd be willing to bet (this is opinion of course) that it would sell almost as much as Halo 2 did.. if not the same..

Would people complain about the necessary physics adjustments for LIVE, complaining about Auto-Aim and magnetic bullets and the like?

Almost certainly.

There will always be complaining.. why do you think the pistol is no more? Becuase people who didn't know how to use it said it was to powerful.. when in fact it was perfect...

Now.. there would be no need to do anything to the auto aim.. or hit boxes.. so it wouldn't be a problem for that.. just the rookies who don't know how to account for lag or latency issues..

I believe that they could keep most of the things looking, and feeling the same..

But there is something i don't understand.. why would they have to change the physics? XBC supports Halo CE.. we have to join a host, or host ourselves.. depending on how good the host is is how bad the lag would be.. but I'm sure XBL would make lag less.. but honestly I don't know a lot about this..

Does anybody really want them to take time out of the next project to release a game that's already been released?

Certainly not.

Wow.. this is absolutley false..

There is quite a bit of people that would prefer them to make Halo: Combat Evolved for XBox Live rather than bungie making their next project.. Many people were let down by Halo 2.. we could now careless about their "next project".. especially since we have no idea what it is..

Bungie keeps releasing these half-ass weekley updates.. giving us crap "clues" or whatnot on their "next project".. or saying "it's coming along nicely"..

Halo 2 is a decent game.. and i enjoy playing it.. but could you imagine how dead Halo 2 would be right now if it didn't have XBox Live?

Well, Ender, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. However you are in the minority as far as the issue goes.

You do understand that to build in LIVE functionality, the general collision physics of the game would be altered to a point of unrecognizability? I don't think (and again, this is simply my own opinion- not reflective of Bungie's opinion) that a rerelease would solve any of your gripes. I think that people would simply complain that it got changed too much.

Good luck. I personally think the answer is to email the folks at XBConnect and the other tunneling services and get them to refine the system more. That would be the best solution, since - good idea or not - the Halo 1 LIVE isn't going to happen.

I don't think many people would switch from Halo 2 back to Halo CE. Even if it had Live capabilities. It'd probably be as popular as XBConnect.

As to the concept that the game would sell millions, I would respectfully (no really! I DO mean respectfully) disagree.

Sadly this is something we could never find out.. I know that bungie will not make Halo CE XBL compatible.. I'm just saying, that from my knowledge on things.. with the following Halo CE had/HAS.. and the number of people who are in disappointment with Halo 2.. that the sales for a Halo CE for XBL would be great.. again.. this is my opinion, and I don't mean to sound like a D (sorry to use harsh letters) if i did previously.

Halo 1 is now VERY affordable. I saw a "new" copy at a game store for $9.00 US just the other day.

Funny.. I saw Halo 2 at blockbuster.. brand new games for only 10.. this is after only a year.. Halo CE kept up its price for quite some time.. and was still in the 20's when Halo 2 came out.. it was a couple months after the release of Halo 2 that Halo CE started to decline in price some more. Halo 2 has already declined in price while only being out 1 year.. This, i believe to be because of the lack of skill, and knowledge to be learned on Halo 2..

If someone was convinced of the moneymaking potential of taking a 4+ year old game that also has a sequel in distribution, then I would think that they could very easily speak to 2 parties to put their theory to the test.

The hardcore gamers who already have Halo would turn their back on idea of paying for "the exact same thing they already have". The people who don't have it might be interested, and that is the entire potential customer-base of the endeavor. If it is unchanged, then it offers nothing new. People will either already have it, especially considering that the components (Halo 1 and XBC) are out there, easy to find, cheap to obtain, and yet...... it's not selling like those proverbial hotcakes.

This is where i know you are wrong.. Because i personally know many hardcore gamers who'd shell out 50+ dollars to get Halo 1 on XBL... i too would buy it.. and i know many online "friends" who'd do the same. The thing is.. they wouldn't be buying an "unchanged" game.. because Halo 1 (CE) would have LIVE.. the biggest change that we'd want.

The difference between XBL and XBC is the lag/latency.. There are quite a few people who still play Halo on XBC.. but there are hundreds of thousands of people who don't even know XBC exists.. Halo 1 online? they ask.. how? The lag/latency is a major reason MORE people aren't online on XBC for Halo 1..

Not to mention the other benefits XBL has.. the ability to communicate with your team, and the opposing team.. This is another major factor why many Halo 1 fans still play Halo 2.. I personally love the fact that i can communicate.. instead of having to watch my teammate get wacked in the back on XBC.. i can now tell them to watch out..

So to say that people wouldn't buy Halo 1 for XBL becuase it's "unchanged" is silly.. seeing as the XBL benefits would change the game up a great deal...

Sell millions? I don't think so, but that is just my view. Anyone else can form their own (and alternate) opinion, but unless they could give me new facts or a point that I am missing or unaware of... I don't see it making anything other than lots of red ink.

How many copies of Halo 2 were sold the first day? Wasn't it between 5 and 7 million copies? Or maybe just a total of 7 million? I don't feel like looking it up, seeing as it would get me nowhere.. But the point is that a great majority of the people who bought Halo 2 that first day played, and obviously liked Halo 1, or they woulnd't have bought Halo 2..

I'd say.. (of course I'm throwing this number out of my ass, because there is no way of really knowing) that at least 500,000 of those people were immediatley disappointed with the game.. Not to mention the growing number of people throughout the year, being bored of Halo 2, seeing as there is nothing more they can really get better at seeing as the massive auto aim, and hit boxes.. and all the imbalances...

I'd be willing to bet that there are at least a million people who'd buy Halo 1 solely because of XBL.. but again, this is something that can never be known.. It's only something that can be dreamed...

You say 'You know many people' who'd love to shell out 50 bucks to buy this game if it had Live. Want to tell us how many in numbers? ou can't simply say 'Many people' as that's not much proof to valid your point.

And this game is worth 20 bucks in Canada >_>. New too.

You will get confused if you choose not to read whole posts.. and you will confuse others if you only quote what i say, instead of also posting what i was responding too..

This is what i was responding to...

I consider myself quite the hardcore gamer.. and i know a great number of people that are "hardcore gamers".. and they already have, and love Halo 1.. and would be more than happy to buy Halo 1 AGAIN if it were for XBL..

Please don't take things out of context.. It seemed recon was implying that all hardcore halo fans would not buy Halo if it were for XBL seeing as they already had a HALO game.. when it is FACT that this is not true..

Either that or just, oh I don't know...
PUT MORE OLD MAPS IN HALO 2!!!
I like the weapons anyway in halo 2.
Although if you changed the campaign giving it graphical updates and physics, then yes certainly, but that seems a little dumb.
