One of the things that I miss is being able to log on every now and then and check out what's new on the webcams. In fact, I remember when there was only one webcam. Any way, who here would like to be able to watch the webcams again?

I realize that since Bungie hasn't officially announced their current project, it might be difficult to keep them from spoiling anything; but even when the webcam just pointed a random direction in the office or at some weird action figure pose on Sketch's desk, I still found that interesting.

I also thought it was cool because we always had a sort of lifeline to Bungie--a sort of proof that they were all alive and well.

So, what about you? Would you watch them?

Just my thoughts,
Poocho :)

The only stalking tools I need are binoculars, rope, tape, an unmarked white van, and a shiny metal object to lure Frankie towards me.....

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

I wonder why somebody voted No. I would like to see them back, but I would assume that Bungie is still too busy settling into the new office and franticly preparing their next project for announcement to worry about the webcams.

Well, at least before Halo 2, you actually got to see the employees running around the office. If they are going to put them back up, I want to at least see Bentllama doing kartwheels in the hall.

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.

I think it should be brought back for them not us. Yeah...that's the ticket.
It's...a...umm...good means of artistic and comedic expression that I'm sure is very soothing in their high stress environment. I mean, just look how happy that webcam made them in the past.

By Crom, think of yourselves and do it for the sake of sanity.

One thing I made sure to do was ask, "Do you want...?" instead of "Should...?"

I simply wanted to know personally if I was the only one who missed watching the webcams from time to time. And I also wanted Bungie to have an honest idea of whether it would be worth their effort for us. I recognize that they try to please their community (though never at the expense of hurting their current project), so I thought it would be nice for them to see exactly what it is that pleases us.

As I said, I--without knowing all factors involved as Bungie does--think there can be some sort of happy compromise. I figure they could at least pick one camera to point at the hypothetical one spot in their office that isn't plastered with secrets about their current project (I heard it was going to be called "World of Wortwortwortcraft." Can anyone else confirm?).

And, since I see there are a few that don't really know what we're talking about, I'll explain. If you go to the bungie tab on that menu bar thingy that moves up and down the page as you do, and then to "Webcams," it'll take you to a page showing three static images under the heading, "H2 Secrets Cam?" Each box used to represent a separate webcam inside the Bungie offices showing whatever evil view the operator(s) decided was best for us. Every minute, it would refresh, showing an updated shot of what was in front of the camera. Sometimes you'd just see someone walking by in the hallway, or a weird Master Chief vs. Elite action figure pose, or maybe even details on a web contest they were holding. But it was always interesting.

I remember a member of HBO even created a program to save each image so we could go through them for missed details.

Well, now you know.

I say we bring back the webcams. I mean what will the obsessed fans do in their spare time. If I'm up late at night and the forums are dead, then where am I to go? Sure I could go to IBO and waste my time there ;) OR...I could watch the Bungie webcams. Seriously though,'they were always fun to watch. Plus, didn't it used to a live video feed, and not just a series of static images?

I'm not that active, but never dead.

I wonder if it's bandwidth issues, instead of just time and effort. That would be something to ask the Overlord.

I highly doubt it would be bandwidth. It wasn't a streaming picture--the camera just takes a new image every 60 seconds. I wouldn't think that would require a whole lot of bandwidth. Especially considering how not every online member of B.net would be downloading it at the same time.

i know a guy who has connections that has connection that once knew a connection that had a cousin that had a connection to a connection with a connection to the bungie security cameras when he is connected

though looking at that old rusty dumpster full of beer cans pizza boxes and various other party supplys wasn't that exciting

Well, I PM'd Achronosa asking about them, and this was his reply:

No, the webcams aren't up for other reasons (two of them are broken, for example). When we can, we'll see what we can do about it.

Dude how in the hell did you get a reply from Achronos?!

Let's see, I'll list them:
* I had a simple, understandable title.
* I used proper spelling and grammar.
* I asked a question pertaining to Bungie.net, which is what Achronos is responsible for.
* I waited 4 days.
