Subject: More Loyal to Halo, or Bungie?

Now that the Halo franchise has switched hands, how do you feel? Given that Bungie has always been "Different" to other mainstream developers, do you think Halo will still be given Justice? Will we still get the same little Touches that has made the series what it is? I would have asked this on the reach forum but since there's so many bitter and sarcastic "Thanks Bungie" threads, I thought this might be a more reasonable place to ask.

So, thoughts?

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

to be honest i think 343i will do a far better job than bungie due to the fact i don't think they will do what people want to do. They will do what is good for the halo story.

343, is actually a group of people who used to work on halo 2. And, yes, they will do a far better job than bungie. They will continue the halo 1,2,3 game mechanics :)

  • 05.12.2011 8:25 AM PDT

I am more loyal to Halo. But i trust Bungie and will get their next game. After all they created Halo

  • 05.12.2011 8:42 AM PDT

I'm actually not sure. Will I go crazy for Halo 4 or Bungie's new game? That is the question!

  • 05.12.2011 10:01 AM PDT

I am Godlike!

I entertain the idea that Bungie has given me plenty of great games (Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3) and that they will not fail to please with their new game.

Since they no longer have to worry about Halo anymore, they can create a new game that focuses on balanced game mechanics, and not just an add on to the Halo series.

i love bungie, but my loyalty is with Halo

  • 05.12.2011 10:08 AM PDT

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Bungie have fallen into the George Lucas trap where they're now just businessmen. Look at the community and how it has been going downhill since Halo 2, it's a shame to see how the community has become less and less important in their eyes compared to how things were with Halo 2 and 3.

Bungie used to intrigue me, but I find myself underwhelmed with just about everything on this site now.

  • 05.12.2011 10:27 AM PDT

Bungie. If I'm honest... *prepares for abuse* the halo series wasn't my favourite Bungie game series.

  • 05.12.2011 10:30 AM PDT

And why can't we like both?

  • 05.12.2011 10:41 AM PDT

More loyal to Halo.
Sorry to say so.

I mean, I love Bungie games...but Bungie has been a bit off the past few years. H3 was lackluster, ODST was great, Reach was great but could have been better. And that might just be because Bungie was getting tired of Halo, seeing the first 2 were just epic beyond believe.
I'm confident 343i can breathe some fresh air into the series and make it better again.

As for Bungie...I mean, I would have bought their next game for certain if the Activision logo wasn't on the DVD case....I am just not willing to spend just 1 cent on a product from Activision.
But then again: it IS Bungie, and if they come up with something mindblowing, I might buy it again.

But thats the thing:
Next Bungie game: slim chance of buying it (no offence Bungie!)
Next Halo game: must buy...

Even though activision doesn't have a say in the development of the new IP?

If Activision is charging monthly fees for an MMO (and chances are they will) then that's enough reason for me not to buy it.

Didn't bungie outright say the MMO thing was a joke?

Unfortunatly: yes. Because I don't want to spend money on a company that is ruining gaming. A company that makes the industry and press settle for mediocre quality, saying it is "great".
They might not have anything to say about the development...but they will get their hands on DLC etc.

I would rather have seen Bungie work with EA (which I also hate, but not with a passion) than with Activision.

I'm primarily a fan of Halo so I'll be looking forward to 343i's future ventures. That being said, if Bungie's new IP is interesting and fun I'll buy it.

  • 05.12.2011 11:05 AM PDT

343 will do a good job the next halo, but i will not say they will do a better job then Bungie.

  • 05.12.2011 11:11 AM PDT

We were somewhere around Barstow...

Both. In all honesty, I'd lean a tiny bit more towards Halo.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Halo. Bungie has only done the story harm with Reach. Hell, 343i was more accurate in their damn map pack then the whole Bungie campaign. I think it's better with 343i because, like grey said, they care more about the story then what people want. Possibly. They might not be like that, but that's how it's looking for now. But, I could be wrong. If so, then Halo is going down the drain. They should be catering to the players, like us, who want story to be first priority.

BAM said the lady

Bungie hands down

Bungie hands down

lol, but what about your name?

  • 05.12.2011 12:03 PM PDT

Um...we can't like both?

I have no loyalties to either one. I like Halo, so I will continue to invest in its story as games and other media come out. I don't really see any changes in how Halo will play really, since all the most important guys are formerly from Bungie.

But I also like Bungie's approach to gaming, now I don't whether their new IP will be of interest to me (chances are it will considering all their previous games), that is what will determine whether I get the game or not, but it will definitely be a rental at some point or borrow it from a friend if I don't buy it myself. Right now I say "Thanks for 10 great years and 5 (yes, I am talking about Reach in there too, it is just as good as the other 4 games) excellent games Bungie. See you in Match Making ;P"

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Bungie.

Defenantly.
