No force. Just two normal people able to use both just as well the the other. Which do you think does better in a fight?

NO FORCE!

Well, both are incredibly easy to slice yourself up with.

However, I kinda think the lightsaber does better, as you can have many different types of hilts and forms.

Getting bored of comparison threads....

You make a good point.

Lightsabre is easier to use; the energy sword's manueverability is limited by having the horizontal hilt with the blade ejecting out each side.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Two average Joes? The guy with the Energy Sword would cut his own arms off by accident.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Again? Really with all these SW, Halo polls. Give it a break already...

Impossible to tell. Both do the exact same thing in terms of effectiveness. For a human, a lightsaber works better.

For an Elite, a sword does better. Each race's anatomy is different, and this effects how meelee weapons work for certain individuals, especially around the wrist/hand area.

The sword is designed specifically for very tall creatures with two fingers and a thumb, all of them much, much longer then could comfortably handle a saber hilt. An Elite would be sloppy holding a tiny lightsaber.

Conversly, a human with a large sword would be sloppy as well.

A human vs human fight where one has a lightsaber and the other a sword, the saber wins.

Elite v. Elite, but same parameters, the sword would win.

Now a human v. Elite with saber and sword, the Elite would win.

Come to think of it, the Jedi/Sith orders don't make any sense. Lightsabers are basically swords that glow. They're designed for a normal sized human, not any other kind of creature. Yet thousands of creatures oin the orders.

Um, each lightsaber is made by the user. A member of a larger species would make a bigger hilt. or the other way, Like Yoda's saber hilt.

Well I think we can all agree with that. An Elite's size and skill with an Energy Sword would easily overcome an average human with a lightsaber.

You may have noticed, every Jedi you see is capable of holding a lightsaber.

Also, what Cmdr said.

What if it was a wookie with a lightsaber? Or any other of the stronger, larger races?

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Looks like people tend to forget that not everybody can use a lightsaber, Force adepts/users are the only population that uses them because it takes a great deal of concentration and precision seeing how the blade is essentially weightless and thus, while spinning it may be too light and accidentally slice of the arm of the user.

Due to the weightlessness of plasma and the strong gyroscopic effect generated by it, lightsabers required a great deal of strength and dexterity to wield, and was extremely difficult and dangerous for the untrained to attempt using.

Now with the Energy Sword it's another story since the design makes it so you cannot cut your arm off while using it (unless you are mentally challenged of course)due to the lack of movement the hilt gives and also because of the blade's shape, it leaves no space to twirl or twist the weapon because it's a set of blades, each at the side.

That's true, like Yoda's tiny one.

Though still, Jedi like Kit Fisto or Plo Koon have some serious problems to overcome. Fisto's squid-like head and Koon'd rediculously long neck are pretty obvious targets; one wrong swing or turn and Fisto's braids are going clean through that blade

And wait a minute, there's a guy on the Jedi council in one of the movies (cant remember which) who doesn't even have any legs. He's got these tenticle looking things. How the hell's he going to use a sword designed for a humanoid?

Remember: plasma blade or not, lightsabers are in fact designed to be just like the swords of the Knights of old. EG: for a regular sized human or creature who looks human, like Darth Maul.

This tenticle guy, Plo Koon and Kit Fisto would have a much harder time dealing with a lightsaber. Especially the tenticle dude; he's not even humanoid.

It says he was remarkable with mind manipulation, being able to fool other Jedi even, so I think he didn't need to fight that much.

I understand that, but lightsabers would have been very troublesome for him either way.

And then there's still that guy with no legs and Kit Fisto.

  • 05.12.2011 7:43 PM PDT

Kit fisto did just fine with a lightsaber.

But there is a thing. If the saber gets stuck betwen the energy sword. It'll be hard for the saber I think.
Did any one even click my link?

I did my research and I can indeed confirm that they would make perfect contact and would not break through each other. White super heated Plasma is very similar to that of a Crystal from the Adega system.

Although the Lightsaber is MUCH lighter and easier to maneuver and use. A sword can be VERY large and heavy if you look at the Cutscene "Monsters" from Halo Wars. It would take some strength to hold it, let alone attack and block with it.

I voted for Lightsaber, it's obvious if you ask me.
