That wasn't a regular energy sword.
I say it takes more skill with the Energy sword but it might pay off.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

And again, I guess you didn't read my post. To properly use a lightsaber, and by properly I mean not cutting off your limbs, you gotta have affinity to the Force, since the movements of the far more maneuverable lightsaber can be too erratic, given the weight of the hilt, as opposed to the Energy Sword who doesn't need to be flipped, at all.

Didn't the OP state it was a no Force included fight?

It wasn't? What was it then? I'm not asking as if demanding to see proof, just curious.

The hilt was special. It had a guard too.

I personally think a sangheili (ulrea or higher, only high ranks get swords) with an energy sword would beat a jedi knight with a lightsaber.

Want to know why? The jedi can't block the swing of an energy sword wielded by a sangheili without dislocating their shoulder. Sangheili are stronger and faster then the game mechanics give them credit.

Yes, but with the Force it wouldn't go so far in the Elites favor. You say no force? They wouldn't be able to wield their lightsaber, it wouldn't be a fair fight.

Honor est praemium virtutis.

Lightsaber by far. Far more elegant, and design wise, more maneuverability. The Energy Sword is more for slashing with strength, not dueling.

I'm talking about close quarters combat.

Besides, Sangheili can dodge rockets effortlessly. If its only a force push/pull and they knew it was coming, they could probably evade it.

You think it's so easy to simply evade something you cannot see? All you have to do it point your palm to the Elite, as he evades, move your hand in that direction and what do you know, Force Push, Choke, or anything necessary to keep it away.

General Grievous seemed to evade them pretty well until he got his chest force-crushed for being reckless.

Look around and see, the world is turning fast, faster, day by day.

Lightsaber. Star wars can't be compared to Halo Reach. They are completely two different games. And on one side, there are star wars movies.

Who said anything about Halo: Reach?

Elites are the physical equals to Spartans; the S-II's simply had more training (though now that I've seen the Return motion comic, I'm starting to think the reason why Elites fall so easily to Spartans is almost entirely plot shield. They both are trained to fight from childhood. Its just that Elite training can actually kill you).

Only the weak die in that training.

But anyway, the Elites' natural strength, cunning, intelligence and speed could make up for the lack of magic. Most Jedi were about the same size and strengtg of a human; no amount of physical workouts could get a human to beat an Elite in hand to hand if it came to it. So where the humans have magic, the Elites have biological superiority.

The Force is not infallible, remember, and Sith, of the two main Force using factions, are the only ones that use the Force as much of an attack as the lightsaber. Jedi use it for defensive messures only, and even then not always. So a Sith would murder any single Elite (though Thel could give one a run fo its money).

But for the sake of the argument at hand, in a human v. human fight, the saber wins.

Actually, a lightsaber can strike for far harder then an energy sword. With the saber, you can do a wide range of attacks ranging from quick flurries to practiced blows to heavy, two-handed smashes.

With the sword, you have much less 'combat moves'. Lunges, stabs, and wider slashes.

Many will enter, only one will rise to the top and he might not even win....

The energy sword is dual-bladed and boils through skin, so I think it would be a better weapon. You also get to lunge a couple hundred feet every time you attack.

Energy sword looks cooler, but I think the lightsaber would be easier to use when striking someone. But then again, it would be easier to block with the energy sword. So I might go with the Energy Sword over the Light Saber.

Not really, the energy sword is more restricted in it's movements. Also, with lightsabers you have a -blam!-on of hilt styles and saber forms that can aid in defenese or offense.

I think it was guard shoto lightsabers? (the ones like police batons used in TFU1) Those are excellent for defense and offense.

lightsaber has more variety in the forms you attack with it, but the energy sword will guard your hand from the opponant's blade, meaning you can't be disarmed as easily as them.

If you use the Arbiter from halo war's blades...

(Y) Ability. Leader power for the Arbiter on a Jedi.

It also matters who is trained in what. Elites are more like acrobatic gymnasts when sword dueling, a lot of spins and flips. Their athletic superiority allows them to compensate for an otherwise lack of mnaeuverability where the actual weapon is concerned. Swords to an Elite quite seriously ARE an extension of the arm; sabers are more traditional swords. They don't need the simplistic handle of a lightsaber to be as agile as one.

And plus, Elites could very easily have a plethora of maneuvers like the saber. The saber simply has had more time to be fleshed out. It really all depends on which race you're talking about. The energy sword is the more complicated to use effectively because you need to work all aspects of your body to use it like the Arbiter in Legends, but once you achieve that level, you're very much like a human Jedi.

Exactly.
Energy swords come in two colours.

But then, in the OP we're talking about two humans facing off with these weapons.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

I've never seen an energy sword deflects a laser, so I'm gonna go with the light saber.
