Want an ODST 2? Wanna figure out where to place it in the timeline? I have your answer.

Make a game depicting the events from halo 3 from the squads POV. The battles in the Crows nest, Voi, and the Ark would have had more fronts than what the chief sees. Figure out how to give the ODST's something to do and boom, you have ODST 2.

Or you can have something completely new. No Crow's Nest, or Ark. Just have them in a different city trying to complete something that's vital to the war effort. Something that ties into the other Halo games.

I know, how about Buck's entire story for the whole Human Covenant war. He's been in it from the beginning. Take him from Harvest to Reach, skip ODST, but show what ever he was up to during Halo 3. That would be a long game, but I am sure it would be awesome.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Yeah, that would be an awesome idea. Buck is a lot of people's favorite ODST. And, even the people who don't pick him as their favorite, still like Buck. He's a good leader. So, following him around during the war effort would be a good idea. I just hope they keep the majority of the squad from ODST.

as he said in ODST, the squad was all replacements by that point, so he probably had not worked with them much up until then. The Rookie was brand new, so he would not show up for a long time.

i have to say that they should make a halo game that relates to Harvest, about the start of the Human Covenant war. But they should incorporate an older odst like Buck or someone or even Sgt. Forge from halo wars

i think it would be good if they made an odst game during halo 3 campaign, like maybe in some levels you fight along side the chief. or on the Ark maybe make a mission somewhere else were you don't see, away from the chief. that would be a good game, it would be almost halo 3 but with way better graphics and enemy ai and a few different levels.

You could have ODST 2 take place during Halo 3 with the squad doing stuff after the Master Chief comes back and leaves again, but then you could have flashback levels of when each member joined the squad in the first place, up to the Rookie (but not including him, since he's featured in ODST). It'd be like the Firefly episode "Out Of Gas".
Also, I had always imagined that they could do a tactical shooter out of ODST using squad directions, suppressed weapons, and the like. But that's mainly my Tom Clancy side wanting that.

Due to some e-mail dumbness, my GT is not the one listed on my profile. My GT is the same as my board name.

Odst 2 is not very logical because I believe Odst took place between Halo 2 and Halo 3 soooo ya...
It doesn't have to be a chronological sequel.

And I like the idea of weather. Though, I think if there were an ODST 2 it should be radically different from every other Halo, even ODST 1.

Some people in the universe forum came up with a good idea for where an ODST sequel could take place. I'll mention it here.

The next ODST could take place in a similar situation to the that short story in Halo Evolutions, The Mona Lisa. In the game you'd be in charge of clearing a ship filled with Flood. You'd have to find survivors and other objectives. You could play as either a new squad or maybe play as the squad from ODST.

Mona Lisa is my favorite short story in Evolutions. I was thinking it'd be awesome if they made an ODST campaign like it.

Also, I don't like the whole idea of it taking place in Halo 3. I especially don't like the idea of fighting along side Chief. I mean, it would be cool, but we already did the same thing in Halo 3. No need to do it again, but in another soldier's shoes. I'd like something completely different and new. Only tied in with the trilogy to an extent (Like ODST) or something that doesn't tie in with the other games at all.

Jesus loves you! But I think you're a -blam!-

I would like the combined grittiness and graphics of Modern Warfare shooters, and the excellent atmoshpere and gameplay of Halo games in one. I like the idea of shooting a Brute in the head and his head cracks open and a small flurry of blood spurts out. Or when you stick an enemy they struggle, and explode in a chunky mist. :J

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

I have seen you future

I love this idea about making Mombasa streets have weather. But since you're expanding the hub world, why stop there?

What 343i should do if they make another ODST type game would be to make the hub world similar to the Citadel from the first Mass Effect. By that I mean that in addition to the main objectives there would be other stuff for you to find that could either help you or give you a side objective.

For example: While wandering the new New Mombasa, you notice that the SI has unlocked a door near you and changed some of the signs to tell you to go into a small building. You walk down a hall and hear a man call out for help. He is huddled with his wife in a dark room. He tells you that they got separated from their children somewhere near Kizingo Boulevard. You then have an optional objective of tracking down the children and reuniting them with their parents.

Survive until the red dawn rises, when we have spilled the blood of our enemies.

personally, I really hate the flood levels, but I would love a new ODST game to come out, with the new graphics enhanced weapon systems etc. But I would love a tactical side to it and for it to be in third person. Because you spend all that time making and customizing a character then you don't get to even see him? This I think will fix that.

That'd be a great idea. Sort of like in L.A. Noire. When you're driving to, let's say, a gun store for further investigation...there's almost always a radio call and you can do a side mission. I really like that idea and you'd really get to know humanity. Which, is something very important because, to be honest, Bungie really lacks with this. I guess it was hard because of all the fighting and global traveling. There's not really much time for that. But, nonetheless, you never really know who you're fighting for during the trilogy. Sure, it was humanity, but...who's humanity? What are they like, now?

Realistic gore would be nice. Not excessive like Gears. But, more along the lines of World at War. When a grenade explodes by your feet: your legs are going to get blown off. When you get hit with a shotgun blast from a few feet away: some limbs are going to fly.

I have a simple idea that I think would be nice to incorporate. Well, instead of just having a gloomy city, add some weather to it. What if, for example, you were walking around Mombasa Streets. Then, out of nowhere, a storm hits. Water drips down your visor slighty impairing your vision. Maybe it gets so intense there are very small floods only ankle-high. That would slow your movement a tad. Or, instead of just having random storms in the city, there could be a mission that you have to carry out in an intense thunderstorm. Could you imagine having rain pouring in at you while you're trying to fight the Covenant. Maybe even make a Firefight map out of it. Wouldn't that be cool?

Now thinking about it, it would be.

Been a long time Halo/Bungie fan, and always will be.

A Flood DLC would have been a bit fun, but not worth it.

Did you read my post? Not The Flood, but flooding. As in water; rain;precipitation.

Arrogant hyperbolic exclamations of woe? Seems like a normal day for Halo/Bungie.net.

Good idea...

I always wanted to see weather play an important role in a Halo game. I loved the rain during the Reach campaign though...too bad Reach's color's are bland as hell.

I did. But I didnt read the title well, I understood it as "I want another ODST game.".

K, I think I have a full idea of how ODST 2 should go, if it followed my idea about it being about Buck.

if the game went from the Harvest Campaign all the way to Reach, or even to Halo 3, then the game could have well over 30 levels.

levels 1-4, 5 maybe, would be about Buck's exploits during the Harvest campaign. At the time, he may or may not be an ODST, I don't know when he joined the ODSTs so he may just be a marine during those missions. If he becomes an ODST later, missions 5-6 or 6-7 could be based around his ODST training, cause that is supposed to be some tough -blam!- to go through.

8 through...I don't know, maybe 19 could be other engagements on other planets throughout the war, maybe they could start adding other ODST's from the squad, or have a few of the missions be about them instead. 20-25 would be on Reach, and 26-30 could be during the events of Halo 3, skipping halo ODST since we already know what happened.

thoughts?

P.S. oh, and if you ask why this game would be so long, Buck was in the war for all 25 years of it, so making a game about him could last as long as every halo game combined, including Halowars.

Me too. Plus, they could incorporate that into Forge. Could you image making an awesome map, then added a blizzard to it? Or an open map with some light rain and gloomy skies? To me, that'd be cool and you can use it in multiple areas. (Campaign, Multiplayer Maps, and Forge.)
