Subject: No game developer has the right to change a thing about Halo CE.

The best possible game would be a mix between Halo CE and Halo 2. Take just the multiplayer maps from both games and mesh them into 1 game. And set the graphics and gameplay somewhere right between the both. For example Halo CE's jump height was weak while H2's was rediculous. And have H1 campaign run right into Halo 2's. Best game ever.

As soon as Halo CE was put on a disk and popped into our trays, it became our game. If it is to be remade, by whomever, they do not reserve the right to alter what gave us our first Halo memories. There is a fine line between changes that do not affect the original experience and changes that do.

I am sick of people thinking anything is up for modification, so here is a master list of what is acceptable for a game developer to do in a remake of Halo CE.

The untouchables-These must be kept as close to original as possible. Copy and pasted is the goal

A.I.

Player models: The actual geometry must be kept the same.

Level design: In the campaign

Physics: Weapons and power-ups could be nade bounced etc...

Multiplayer map design: Graphics can be improved geometry must not be touched.

Weapon balance: Sorry, 3SK pistol stays.

Glitches: Every glitch must stay.

Auto-aim/Any player aid:The level of auto aim, bullet magnetism, reticule friction, etc... must be kept the same(low) in order to retain the high level of aiming skill in Halo CE.

Acceptable change-These can be added to give more depth to the game without changing the experience we got when we first played.

Graphics: Can be improved

Theater mode:...

Forge Mode: Maybe they'll get it right this time (full map editor or at least no frame-rate issues.)

XboxLIVE/netcode: ONLY if they can do it without cheapening the gameplay

Custom options: Many more can be added

Updated menu navigation: More like H3's or Reach's

If you did not play CE when it first came out you do not deserve to have an opinion. Especially if you are saying the change the untouchables. The remake is not about what you want Halo CE to be, it is about giving players a chance to replay the same game they did back in 01, with today's technology.

I will add to the list as I think of them, or if you post anything I will put it where it belongs.

I agree with everything you said except that "if you did not play CE right when it came out we do not deserve to have an opinion." Bull. I was too young to play M rated games in 2001. I didn't start playing Halo until early 2005, and got an Xbox shortly after the 360 came out for the SOLE purpose of playing Halo CE and Halo 2. You mean to tell me that just because I didn't get the game in its first month, that I don't appreciate it as much as you do? Apparently, I appreciate CE more than you, because I still consider it my favorite game despite the fact that it is outdated and lacks online multiplayer, and I'm willing to listen to anyone who's finished the Campaign on the subject. I play it regularly, along with ALL my other Halo games. I'm working on a Silent Cartographer map in Forgeworld, for Pete's sake, and I'm considering taking a break on it and remaking the Pillar of Autumn's bridge or Engineering. Don't you dare try to tell me that I don't deserve an opinion on my favorite video game of all time.
As I said before I vented on your sorry -blam!-, I agree with everything else you said. I suggest that we all right letter to Saber Interactive, the company working on this remake, asking them to do just this. If enough of us do so, they may actually factor our opinions into their decisions on what to change. I doubt they want to PO the people who made Halo such a huge success in the first place.

When I typed that I was thinking of the people who came into the series during Halo 2/3/Reach and say retarded things like "OMG the CE remake wud be so amazing if they just added armor abilities/bubble/whatever" Kind of like the post above yours.

Those are the people who do not deserve to have an opinion.

They don't understand that this is not a "make the best Halo using components from each game" it is a REMAKE. The goal is simple; Offer games the closest experience to the original.

You are not the owner of the game. You own a physical copy that allows you to paly the game at home, otherwise it's the property of microsoft.

How can someone's remake alter your memories. won't you create a new memory with this game while the old one stays the same and can never go away.

dont' agree with your untouchable list. glitches have to go for one. I don't agree with the 3 shot pistol now days. The whole multi player experience will get polished, how could it not. The whole idea of a remake is to make the same game with modern technology to achieve things that they could not in the past. As long as they keep the basic physics and damgage formulas etc. it will be an awesome time.

I don't think they should cut anything out from the story at all but if they choose to add to it (in the cut scenes) that would be fine, there is a lot of story to be told. I think the campaign should be the focus of the game personally.

Look everyone gets that you're passionate but you're not being realistic. If they changed absolutaly nothing but the graphics the game wouldn't survive today's kids or market. People will always want some kind of improvement, otherwise what is the point of remaking a game or producing a sequel at all?

THATS MY COOL MAN I CAN'T TAKE IT OFF!

Online multiplayer would be plenty to help the game's market. This 'OMGzz let's maek improvements GIVE US BUBBL SHEELDZ!!' is such unbelievable garbage. It's a RE-MAKE. Maybe Halo 4 can deliver what you're looking for.

BLAM!

I DON'T WANT A REMAKE.

If you want to play H:CE, go buy the original version.

So, why can't you just play the original version while other people upgrade to a remake? I'd welcome a remake with better online play than what we're given now. Anything would be better than the horrid netcode any form of Halo: Combat Evolved has.

Then don't buy the remake. Go play Reach. Or even H3, I hear that's still up and running.

THE ONLY THING I DON'T WANT CHANGED IS THE CAMPAIGN. OTHERWISE I MIGHT AS WELL PLAY THE ORIGINAL
Good luck playing online in the original.
