Subject: "That's the largest Covenant Fleet I've ever seen"

"The Largest anyone's ever seen."

My question is this, how many Covenant ships were there in total before the Great Schism cruising with High Charity?

Short and Simple.

Question: You guys are putting the fleet up close to one thousand ships! How would that be possible if Earth was invaded with less than 50? Even with the Great Schism It's hard to believe so many were destroyed.

My bad, I misread it.

Probably this High Charity had hundreds of ships defending this station. My best estimate since Cortana claimed that she saw its largest fleet ever since Unyielding Hierophant with 500 strong ships, I would say about a thousand maybe.

Well, if it's the largest anyones's ever seen, it's greater than 314 which was the amount at Reach, but I don't know the exact number.

I think it was like, 500-strong or probably more than that. Read first strike novel, it describes about those high charity.

Just to clear confusion I might have, are you sure you're not thinking of Unyielding Hierophant?

Idiot can be a hard language to learn, but once you get it down, everything becomes so clear! The whole world will make sense to you.

In Ghosts of Onyx isn't it mentioned as upwards of 10,000?

It was built up as freaking massive.

Won't work. I doupt the whole fleet is actually shown in the game. Bungie probably put there few hundred ships to make it look big. There aren't necessarily even hundred ships shown in the game. I'd estimate the fleet to be around seven hundred to thousand.

<3 caboose.

Pretty sure High Charity was denoted of having a fleet of a thousand ships as an escort somewhere in Ghosts of Onyx

As for the topic, the answer IS the great schism. If you put 1000 ships in orbit around High Charity, give half of them to the Brutes and half to the elites (adjust for skills) and add flood to the mix, it's only reasonable for the majority of the ships to be destroyed.

The fleet animation is an infinite loop; ships appear from the clouds in one side of the skybox and disappear in the other end.

Bobcast is paid in MILF blind dates.

According to the epilogue of First Strike: "They gathered data and emerged into the cold vacuum, where they were recovered by the hundreds of supercarriers and cruisers in ststion-keeping positions around the massive, bulbous planetoid that dominated the heavens."

Just going by those two classes the full size has got to be over a thousands ships.

^^^This probably has been retconned. Also, we are talking about High Charity's defensive fleet right?

Earth was not invaded by 50 ships. By the time of Halo 3. The entire USNC fleet was destroyed, all orbital defences were gone. This means that Truth had a fleet that destroyed all of that, but he probably lost most of his own ships in the process.

Ummmm, no.

UNSC's Home Fleet wasn't even completely destroyed -.- Did you not see couple of frigates came in and tried to blow up forerunner dreadnought. If you said that it was complete unsc fleet was destroyed which it would meant that frigates weren't supposed to be here, it's supposed to be destroyed in above of orbit.

During entire battle of earth, a large chunk of UNSC fleet were destroyed. Besides, Regret had 15 ships attacking early; majority of them were destroyed. Later, Truth came with little over 30 ships plus fleet of furious redemption able to destroy a large chunk of UNSC's Home Fleet before retreating to the Ark with heavy losses. Since elites claimed that they outnumbered them by 3; while their total number of ships is nine strong; we can safely assume that remaining of covenant loyalists had about 27 ships. (my gross estimation)

And I don't think all of SMACs and ODPs were destroyed as well.

Only 2 SMAC's were destoryed, not the others.
Regret and Truth simply bypassed the SMAC defenses by making an opening by destroying 2 of them.

I see the evidence otherwise.
Regrets fleet consisted of 15 ships, those being 2 Assault Carriers and 13 CCS Battlecruisers.
Truth's fleet consisted of 12 ships that were build following the destruction of the Unyielding Hierophant.
The Fleet of Furious Redemption consisted of what? 27 ships?
In Total, that's around 45 ships.

I see no support to your claim of the invasion fleet consisting of hundreds of ships, please show me your source.

The first Covenant ships arrived on October 20th. On November 3rd, the covenant was still engaging multiple UNSC fleets in orbit [GoO page 205], and on November 8 [BWU] the UNSC was still fighting in orbit and had firepower to spare [H2 ending]. This means that Truth's ships were able to engage the entire might of Earth's defenses for 3 weeks.

And in the end of this battle, Truth's 30 remaining ships dominated the Earth. They could freely bomb the planet and land anywhere they wanted. The UNSC fleet was "smashed" and reduced to a "handful", to the point where deploying 3 frigates was considered a "big risk" [Crow's Nest opening].

And when it comes to fleets, Truth had not only the fleet of Furious Redemption at his disposal, but the fleets of Profound Composure, Tranquil Composure, and Inner Knowledge as well.[HW timeline] If we estimate each fleet's size to be a modest 100 ships (considering the smallest concrete number we have is 315), we'll have 400 ships attacking Earth - a number that fits the facts.
