I think in terms of online tournaments, you are almost forced to host FFA rounds due to dismal turnout rates. The fact is, people don't remember online tournaments like these, because there is no physical location you have to travel to, there's no signup fee, there's nothing to gain or loose... People just don't remember. The benefit of making the tourney FFA is that no-shows don't affect the tournament in anay way. You simply disqualify anybody who doesn't show up and move on. If you decide to go with teams, you should seriously consider allowing people to sign up AS teams. There are two reasons for this. First, consider what you are hosting. A tournament. This is a series of tests designed to see which team is the best. You can't very well accomplish this goal if you mix up the players randomly. Second, if people sign up as teams, it makes sense to me that they would be twice as likely to show up as a team, thus reducing your number of no-shows.
