One common cause of disagreement in all of the forums that I see tends to go a little something like this:
Person One: *High pitched whiny voice* "I don't like (fill in space here) because it's sooooo cheap and it takes no skill and it is just a tool for jerks to BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
Person Two: *Gruff, man-voice* "Ahhhh, ur such a wussy, i am a god, i can kill you with my hands tied--no, cut off! And (fill in this blank with same blank hitherto mentioned by person one) is a perfectly legitimate way for me to KICK UR @$$"
<Note: person two may have a perfectly valid point but his typing is probably messed up by the spittle flying from his mouth>
Person One: *Same whiny voice, but with an edge* "You can talk all the trash you want but (insert same argument as before but this time with a few insults thrown in at Person Two)
etc...
The way I see it, there are a few types of Halo Players: Win at all costs, use every trick, hyper aggressive players, and people who enjoy a slower style of play, don't care (quite as much) about winning or losing. I'm part of type 2, but can understand the type 1 peoples' point of view.
Now: to the point of this thread!!!
In these forums, ( I especially noticed this in Hikaru 119's sniper guide) Type 1 and Type 2 people are constantly at each other's throats. Can no one just agree that different people enjoy different styles of play, and love it equally, instead of just bickering (rather heatedly) about whether "sniping" is better than "sharpshooting."
Now, in the interest of understanding the different types of player, I'm going to explain something I love about my style of play, and then I would like a Type 1 player to explain something he loves about Halo, and we can see where the differences and similarities lie.
For Example: I love hiding whilst sniping (especially in bushes) because it gives me a feeling of knowing something my opponent doesn't, even if its just for the few seconds I'm there before someone takes me out. That feeling of conspiratorial glee is very empowering for me.
