I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.

I found out through Frank O'Connor a while back that the 343i and Cole Protocle Mark IV are neither the default IV. Bungie has provided us with what the original looks like. So is the Halo Wars/CP just variants or just upgraded replacements. Like the 343i version is Mark IV II

How did you find this out? Proof?

I read your post just fine, but other than your word we have no way of proving what you're claiming.

Well, makes sense that Grey Team had a slightly customized mark IV.

We've seen the Halo Wars Mark IV in the most appearances, and it's said Mark V was basically Mark IV but slightly less bulky.

Artistic licence is the words you're looking for.

It's described in The Fall of Reach as being bulky, brown, and without shields. That's what it'll be in my heart.

Walk softly, and carry a big midget.

All we know is that the helmet looked like Mark V, like in Halo Wars. Not sure about the rest of the armour.

Also where did you get that information from?

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

The Mark IV armor in Halo Wars looked awesome. Partly because of the amazing graphics too. :)

I never remember it being described as brown. I mean, Chief walked up to his Mark V, and thought it was his Mark IV until he got close enough to notice there was no battle damage.

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

A bit like the new look Dr Dre.

The variations you see on the covers of books are purely artistic licence, although I can imagine that with a deep cover unit like Grey Team, who have limited or no supply lines, would have to engineer/repair their own armour if and when it gets damaged. So their appearance might appear slightly more ad-hoc
