Subject: Hayabusa variants?

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.

Since MJOLNIR has variants, shouldn't the Hayabusa have variants?

Yes I'm fairly young. No, that doesn't mean I'm automatically dumber than you or have less life experience, thats just generally the case. I am not your general case.

Yes, I heard a rumor awhile back that it has three variants, an initial, unshielded variant similar to MK.IV, a second variant designed as an advanced power armour for normal humans (namely ODSTs) and a third shielded variant that is seen in Halo 3.
However, I haven' heard anything about this in a while so I assume non-cannon but I figured it was worth mentioning.

Hayabusa shouldn't be included at all, let alone have more than one version.

  • 05.17.2011 7:22 AM PDT

Why would it have variants?

I don't think he's saying it should be included in Reach, I think he's just asking if there were variants to it.

+1 to that brother! it was the worse armour ever conceived and has no place in the Halo Universe...!

"Ignorance is a plague."

Close, but the plague killed those infected with it, and the ignorant are still alive.
I wish ignorance was a plague.

I haven`t seen any other variants before.

There are no canonical sources depicting any variations of Hayabusa, so no.

IMO, Hayabusa shouldn't be canon at all. Aesthetically it doesn't fit and I'm pretty sure it's established that Haley's work in MJOLNIR and its mechanical effects were exclusive.

P.S. Just to clarify , I know Hayabusa is canon. I just don't think it should be.

"Cool" is a relative term.

"We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds...'
I suppose we all thought that one way or another."

u mad bro?

Hayabusa was too random. Fine for multiplayer I guess, but it doesn't fit canonically.

How is it canon? The only time it's ever seen or mentioned is Halo 3 Multiplayer, and MP is non-canon.

and yet the armor that is featured in H3's multiplayer has it's precursors appear in Halo Reach's campaign. Security armor, EVA, need I say moa?

Hayabusa only served one purpose in Halo - to notify other players that the person wearing it is an 8 year old boy with a squeaky voice, pottymouth and poor online conduct.

I really wish you were right. I hate Hayabusa, but it is canon as it was included in the Encyclopedia.

  • 05.18.2011 7:34 AM PDT

I like Hayabusa. It's different and adds variety.
Saying "it doesn't fit" is akin to saying generic japanese styles shouldn't exist in real life because they don't fit with established western designs, or that any car that doesn't look like a Ford doesn't exist because it has a different style.

I would love to see it issued to SIII shock troopers.

  • 05.18.2011 7:54 AM PDT

Although Hayabusa is described as canon, technically it isn't. The armour was a tribute to Ryu Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden made by Team Ninja. Team Ninja had put in Nicole-458 in Dead or Alive 4 and Bungie thanked them by creating the Hayabusa armour.

  • 05.18.2011 8:26 AM PDT

for crying out loud, cool stuff you say? its blam!-ing Ninja armour in the Halo universe. should be in the universe, period!

that's the problem. Nicole has been confirmed canon, so that makes me wonder if the Hayabusa armor is canon or not. Does Team Ninja even get money from the McFarlane toys of the armor?

  • 05.18.2011 11:15 AM PDT

I very much doubt that Team Ninja gets money for it. It was a tribute, Bungie didn't have to pay anything to them to use inspiration from Ninja Gaiden, so it's unlikely that McFarlane have to pay them.

Let's be honest, it could be a lot worse.

Oh hayabusa, the only thing I didn't like about Halo 3. If only some things really could die.

I second that!
