AFK: Away from Kontroller. Don't do it or you'll get the living crap smacked out of you by the Banhammer. If you disagree with any of this, you are just bad at Mortal Kombat.

A little odd that one of the top tier developers skipped out on E3 this year. Do you guys think it was a good idea to do so or would you have rather have Bungie reveal whatever it is they are working on?

Discuss.

One final bump is all that remains.

They skip it because they have nothing to announce. Their next game isn't far enough in development to be announced yet.

P.S. This topic isn't important enough to be bumped by two people, not even one.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Maybe they'll make a surprise entrance. Highly doubt it, though. And, quite frankly, I don't really care much about Bungie's next game. I'm more loyal to Halo then Bungie. Especially after Reach.

Pretty much true. Bungie is still looking for something like 30 plus people to join their studios. They most likely have no idea how to program for the PS3 and need a small team that is already familiar with the technology. I won't be surprised if they don't attend next year's E3.

It'll be 2013-2014 when we see their next IP in stores. I hope they don't announce anything prematurely. There is a lot risk when announcing games before it's "good enough" to be shown to the world.

Now you're taking it too far. They've been already making the game since they made Halo 3 and I believe Jason Jones has been working on it since Halo 2 as he didn't appear in the credits of Halo 3. Although, that's also because he didn't want to have anything to do with Halo anymore. Anyway the development started when they finished Halo 3 and made a very small team to work with the new IP. I doupt they spend six or seven years making a game. We will probably have it by the end of 2012 or maybe even beginning of 2013.

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

This. It's like they deliberately wanted Reach to bomb just to sabotage 343. It makes no sense.

BAH-WEEP-GRANA-WEEP-NINI-BONG?

If you don't have a new game to demo, or don't have enough video to believe you can keep the attention of the attendees satisfied then it doesn't make sense to pay the outrageous fees that the convention charges. Plus normal costs of setup, decorations, freebies, employees to monitor the floor, etc are a huge cost to the company too.

[*Please note that anything in my posts is likely to be filled with sarcasm, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I tend to help people, usually*]

Can I see the source where it says that they aren't going? I've not been around these parts in some time.

Edit: Ahh, I see..

Well, that sucks. Guess Bnet is going to be reaaaally boring for the next year.

Bungie becoming an independent studio was for this exact reason. It is my opinion that Reach was exactly what the owner of the IP wanted created, and nothing more save a few little Bungie easter eggs.

Bungie not being at E3 means they will be working on their new game(s?) instead, and will continue to do so until Bungie decides the game will be ready, rather than have it ready to complement a completely different marketing program on a specific date.

I am glad that a talented developer retained much of their personnel and are going to put out the games that they want to, not that they are told to.

It seems like they just didn't even care anymore. I mean the multiplayer was catered to the more casual players and there's nothing wrong with that, but it gets a tad bit annoying trying to kill people then they just Armor Lock and their teammate swoops in and does the work for the ALer. Plus, the most important, the campaign was an abomination. The novel was so great, but instead they put in a crappy, canon-breaking, story that feels like a side story. They were all excited about having 40AI now, but it didn't feel like it at all. In halo 3, the ark, when your in the scorpian fighting off Wraiths and Choppers, then the Scarab comes! Oh gosh that was epic. Reach...an INVADED planet. The BIGGEST invasion, not to mention. And it felt like a few firefights, then yay Reach falls. I felt more invaded in the Highway mission in ODST then in the entire Reach campaign. /end rant
