This came to my attention while I was reading the novel The Flood, and comparing the game to it in my mind. During Assault on the control room, when the pelican dropship calls for help, it is Sergeant Johnson's voice, and you can even see him in the level too. But, Johnson was off with Keyes in search of the "weapon's cache" at this time. Anyone else notice this slight error?

Not many voice actors is the problem.

Johnson, in the game, was the black sarge who always died, but kept coming back mysteriously.

Though, did anybody else think the xbox version had more voice acting/more noticeable voice acting compared to PC?

Lack of voice actors most likely. It's probably just an oversight. They didn't know Johnson would become more than just a sargent at that time so they didn't hesitate to put him into multiple areas.

Hmm, slight plothole in Halo 3:ODST. On the level Kikowani Station, Buck hijacks a Phantom. You then have to lead Buck through these technicle tunnels, until you get out of the city in the last tunnel.

Well, there is no roof. yo8u could have easily just taken the Phantom, and flew up, and you would be out of the city, but instead, you risk loosing your life going through all those tunnels.

Even in the instances where The Flood contradicts Halo 1, that's not a plot hole in Halo 1 itself, it's an inconsistancy between book and game.

//=====

However, and more importantly, there's no issue here. Black sergeants in Halo 1 aren't specific canonical characters. They're just stock sarges that happen to share an in-game model and voice actor, just like the other marines. In Halo 1, the only mention of "Johnson" was that that name was how the voice actor was credited, and the only "canonical" appearances of his are those specifically mentioned by The Flood (and even then, the interactivity can create disconnects); the rest are nameless.

In the games, Johnson didn't become a named character until Halo 2. For that matter, the games even opted to preserve the "Dust and Echoes" line from the first game by using the conversation between Gunns and Johnson in Armory to playfully lampshade the disconnect.

KIWIZ RULE THE WORLD!

Its just that nobody knows it yet...

For the odst plot hole: fixed

The air was ruled by the covenant at that stage so it probably seemed safer to go under rather than over... boy where they wrong.

The Human race is the parasite of the Earth. The galaxy is the host of the Earth. The universe is the parasite of something much grander...

Halo PC (and its sequel) should have had LAN co-op

That is not Johnson, they just reussed the "black sergeant" player model throughout the game.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

It's not really Johnson. It was just the "black sergent" model. He wasn't a character yet, he was just modeled to be any other random marine.

Actually, it isn't a plot hole because back then Sgt. Johnson was so badass that he could be in multiple locations at the same time.
