We are all Halo fans. Why are we arguing like this? For God's sake, we are all here because of Halo! Halo brings people together. We take all sorts of -blam!- from fanboys of other games, so why can't we get along with ourselves? Please people, just remember that Bungie has been working on our favorite game for 10 years, I think they know what they are doing.

Which character's death was the saddest in the Halo series? Explain yourself.

The saddest death I saw was when Pvt. G. Sorola got shot in the junk then stuck with a plasma grenade during ONI Sword Base.

Just Google it!

On second thought... don't.

On topic: Captain Keyes.

Definitely Johnson, I recently read his wiki and learned alot about him.

Johnson found a spot as one of Chief's few friends, and we played with the guy for 3 games, and I never realized but it's pretty sad to see one of Chief's only friends die in his arms.

Yes I'm fairly young. No, that doesn't mean I'm automatically dumber than you or have less life experience, thats just generally the case. I am not your general case.

Johnson or Captain Keyes

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

Saddest death was definitely Keyes - shame we didn't see more of him in the games (past or present)

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

Johnson.

Though technically MC died, i would've voted on that.

1: Johnson
2: Noble 6
3: Jorge
4: 343 Guilty Spark.

343 was sad, because even if he was a little a-hole, he still was a massive icon to Halo and such an integral part of the games. Having to kill him and seeing him going rampant just because he was doing what he needed to do and we basically betrayed him and the Forerunners, was kind of sad.

Then again: idiot did kill Johnson :(

The most tragic death, for me, was Miranda Keyes. She was a brave character and, in Halo 3, she pretty much subbed for Cortana.

The grossest death was definitely her father, Captain Keyes. That was kind of yechh when he got cocooned by the flood.

Even though this character never really died, Cortana's ghost appearances also made me sad. The way they were framed made it feel like she was a ghost talking to the chief from the afterlife.

The most kick ass, heroic death definitely goes to Jorge, whose final stunt probably allowed thousands of people to escape.

The biggest screw up to result in a death was Emile. He died heroically and all but let's face it, if he'd noticed that elite coming for him, Noble 6 would have gotten away and the Chief would have had a Spartan to partner up with.

The funniest death would have to be Johnson. It really was kind of funny when he got iced by the Oracle. You just can't get upset when someone gets killed by the Oracle. Let's face it, the Oracle was pretty funny, kind of like a satanic C3P0.

Blatantly Johnson. No one likes it when a guy a epic as him dies. Carter and Emile's deaths weren't sad, just heroic.

In jedem system der Macht gibt es korruption.

Det vore klokt att tro att det inte finns några undantag.

I made a thread once as to how Jorge could have survived.. got flamed to satan's pit by people trying to sound smart about something they didn't understand though..

My name is Legion, for we are many.

Captain Keyes, seeing as he got infected, mind-hacked, and tortured by the Flood, while expending his life force on resisting their influence at the same time. That must have been one of the cruelest deaths in Halo.

Apart from the Chief and Cortana, Avery Junior Johnson was the only character who you new right from the start to end. He was one of the most badass and seemingly (actually literally for most of it)invincible character in the series and had a personality that you came to know and love. He became a character people got unknowingly attatched to and although he was not in the spotlight all the time, he really helped in defining Halo. Johnson was present at the beginning and end of the war. He was the first to fire upon a Covenant and was present at the death of their leader. He was one of the first to land on Halo and was there when it was finally destroye. To be killed by someone they thought an ally and was also there from the beginning of their encounters at Halo was a tragic end to a character in Halo.

Miranda Keyes was the daughter of the legendary Jacob Keyes who had already been killed on Halo and consumed by a gravemind. She was also the daughter of Catherine Halsey, the mind behind the Cortana and the SPARTAN project and easily one of the reasons for humanities survival. With Jacob and Catherine no longer in the scene in Halo three Miranda was like both of them combined. She was also a fairle well known character and to see her killed so unexpectedly at an already somber moment was definitely very sad.

Captain Keyes' death was another sad moment. But the Spartan's deaths just symbolised the greater loss of the Spartans and everyone who had died before and at Reach. Their individual deaths were not as grave as Johnson, Miranda, or Captain Keyes.

Johnson, followed by Noble 6.

Johnson was almost certainly the last human death of the war, then he was betrayed by 343 who was supposed to be on our side.

Noble 6 because from the end of the PoA level it was obvious he was going to die, plus you had just played through the game as him.

Jorge's would have been worse if he hadn't chose to do it, and if a load more ships hadn't entered the system straight after...

  • 06.01.2011 4:45 AM PDT

Pvt Jenkins, Johnson, Cpt Keyes and Jorges.

Pvt Jenkins was the only flood victum to be infected but not completely controlled. His entire family was killed on Harvest and he only way he could get control from the damaged flood was suffer pain.

Johnson is sad because he was one of the first humans to actually fight the Covenant before the war and he was SO close to surviving the war. Before that he was in the first Spartan Program and he fought the Insurrectionists.

Cpt Keyes is one of my favourate characters, he saved so many people and he was extremely innovative and I wish he didn't have to be consumed by the flood :(

And Jorge who was one of the rare Spartan II who had faced the Covenant for more then a decade and he sacrificed himself to save Reach unknowing that a massive Covenant fleet would soon come out of slipspace and cause one of the bloodiest and most impacting defeats :/
