Subject: Xbox 360 console temporarily banned from earning credits - Bungie

SPARTAN 7007

xBox Live reps encouraged me to go online to xBox Live Matchmaking through the Halo Reach interface. During my first experience in Slayer firefight, I received this message.

INFORMATION Xbox 360 console has been temporarily banned from earning credits. Bungie ban.

I played solo offline for several months getting ready to go online. I am new to online Halo Reach matchmaking, and certainly want to establish a good reputation and increase my scores and Halo Spartan rank. But this unexpected credit ban troubles me. Why am I being penalized as a new player? What did I do wrong? This is not a good welcome to online gaming. I am being penalized for something I know nothing about. Keep in mind, I am a new customer to xBox 360, xBox Live, Halo Reach, and Bungie online gaming so for what it is worth, electronic gaming.

Halo Reach was something new and exciting for me. when I finally went online, I got into a Halo Reach lobby called Slayer and was wiped out, unable to keep up with very skilled players. After playing for several hours, I got that onscreen message saying my xBox console was temporarily banned from earning credits. The ban was lifted the next day, so I went back into online matchmaking for two other lobbies, Sniper and Invasion. After several more hours I got the same message. I thought it would go away but it still comes up when I sign in, and has been there for the last several days.

I called xBoxLive about this information notice, and they referred me to Bungie ban website to see what may have caused this temporary ban. I thought I would be able to enter my gamer tag on the Bungie website and find an explanation but there is nothing specific, just a lot of generic information about code of conduct, bans, how long they typically last, and that they cannot be appealed. As a new player looking for an explanation as to what I may have done wrong, I did not find the Bungie Ban website to be helpful. I contacted the Bungie webmaster about this, and received a canned statement about bans.

Having read all information on bans, I still do not know what, if anything, I did wrong. There is no explanation as to what was done wrong, and no means of inquiring about what triggered this temporary ban. Is there a bug in this automatic banning program? This is like receiving a traffic ticket and not being told what for, or what you did wrong. This Bungie game ban practice is very depressing and gives new gamers no incentive to return to Bungie online. Why play for zero points?

Attention Bungie game moderator, forum administrator, and Bungie game designers, the Bungie HammerBan needs a design improvement wherein players can enter their gamer tag and get information as to why they were banned from earning credits, and how long the ban will be imposed. When you penalize a gamer, feedback on what they did wrong is a must.

The thing is, a lot of the best default Halo Reach players and some of the biggest default Halo 3 Matchmaking warriors.

Gotta love those verb-less sentences.

New to game.

Can't get kills.

System thinks he is AFK.

Banhammer.

Because you never got more than 4 kills in your past 25 matches, and frequently got 0? If you're new, like you say you are, that might just be inexperience. Even so, the Banhamer doesn't look too kindly on that.

He said he has been playing Reach for a while, he just got introduced into 'online gaming'. There are so many retards on reach its hard to be that bad.

I don't think the system would factor in the snipers. A lot of people get crushed in that playlist.

Its the melee that got you banned.

Melee

Kills: 9 | Deaths: 214

I myself would think a player is often AFK if they have that ratio.

Actually I remade an account recently started out with first 30 games at a 4.0 playing only new players and guests. So the person is a warrent officer I looked at his games he can seem to play slayer however not snipers most games he got 0 in were snipers kind of makes sense. Not really I mean the for the first game of someone you could be that bad if it's you're first game. He averages 1,2 kills per game that just says to me he is not that good.

So you've played a lot of Halo offline. Funny how you can't get one kill online, but my friends who have never before played Halo can get a few kills. Obvious AFKer is obvious...

Meh I dont think so .

Second Account

Well, the problem is that your very negative KD (Kill Death Ratio) is tricking the system into thinking you were AFK (Away From Keyboard). Looking into your Game History, I can find no reason to think you're lying to us. Everything about your game history falls into place perfectly with the story you've given us. You also manage to get at least one or two kills in a lot of your games. If you had consistently gotten 0 kills, or had gotten 9-15 kills on certain games and 0 kills on others, it would be obvious AFKing,

Unfortunately, due to the many lying bastards who've ruined Bungie's attempts to be nice to wrongfully banned people, there is no longer any way to appeal your case.

There is no way if you had been "playing solo offline for several months getting ready to go online" that you'd be bad enough to get 0 kills that many times. The level of competition is way too low at that level.

AFK, end of story.

Sure other people double beatdown, but he simply could too as the other rushes him and end in a draw. Perhaps he could be telling the truth, but the only thing that will really change my mind would be actual footage of the games in question.

You must be that guy that believes everyone who comes on the forums and says "LUL MY SISTER/FRIEND/DAD/GRANDPA PLAYED WITH ME AND HE WAS BAD AND NOW IM BANNED."

Love playing custom games?

Well come join Customs Evolved

We are group dedicated to playing custom games, map testing, game nights, etc. Anyone is welcomed to join, and we hope to have as much fun as possible!

I completely understand OP. He did say he was new, being a Lt.Colonel and under, i dont see why the banhammer would go for a new player that looked like he was AFK. Treating new players like this is actually completely outrageous and would probably result in a return to the store, or not play it ever again. No one is good to begin with.
