Subject: Xbox 360 console temporarily banned from earning credits - Bungie

I completely understand OP. He did say he was new, being a Lt.Colonel and under, i dont see why the banhammer would go for a new player that looked like he was AFK. Treating new players like this is actually completely outrageous and would probably result in a return to the store, or not play it ever again. No one is good to begin with.

exactly it's too bad the community is a bunch of trolls and accuse everyone for everything. People wonder why they post topics about how to get the community population up well theres the answer.

Love playing custom games?

Well come join Customs Evolved

We are group dedicated to playing custom games, map testing, game nights, etc. Anyone is welcomed to join, and we hope to have as much fun as possible!

After checking most of his games, his first few games resulted in really negative KD ratio, 0 kills. I really cant blame the banhammer because most of his games, he only got 1-2 kills. But then again, hes usually the lowest rank, and hes playing really competitive playlists like slayer pro and team snipers.

I thought I was pretty decent at Halo 2 when I was playing offline when I didn't have Xbox Live. I'd beat all my friends on split screen. Then I went online and got freakin' worked. I feel sorry for the OP that there's so many people that take advantage of the system they had to make this stupid banhammer.

The banhammer doesn't work.

I don't always ban people but when I do I laugh uncontrollably...that's if I was a Forum Ninja.

Truth is a matter of perception.

The Button

I looked into your game history and everything seems to fit perfectly with what you stated. I have one piece of advice for you, stay away from snipers. It seems that's your worst playlist, not trying to be mean.

Want a war sim? The best war sim in Halo, Forerunner Conflict.

Apparently the system thinks you're AFC. This results in a ban. It's stupid, I know. Sadly, you'll either have to get good or deal without credits until you are.

SPARTAN 7007

Thanks to all of you who have read Spartan 7007 comments about the BanHammer system. A few things in defense:

AFK - not applicable. Spartan 7007 plays steadily for 4-6 hours at a time, taking breaks between game reloads, finger always on the trigger.

Kill/Death Ratio - dcertainly not at level expected, but Spartan 7007 is working his way up. In numerous past plays in MatchMaker - Slayer, Invasion and Sniper, avearaged 1-3 kills. Spartan 7007 is impressed with the top dogs in these lobbies, and rendered positive feedback - they are truly game roll models. Spartan 7007 is studying them.

Halo Reach Knowledge is Power - new reference for Spartan 7007. Standby - Spartan 7007 is studying the maps and strategies for increased skill level in the lobbies.

Persistence & Determination - Spartan 7007 is building expertise. Currently at Warrant Officer Grade I. Any players that have teamed with Spartan 7007 in Slayer, Invasion and Sniper arenas know that Spartan 7007 stays at the trigger - none of this AFK stuff. Spartan 7007 stands by his word.

Credit - Spartan 7007 recieved several commendations and awards playing Halo Reach Mission and Firefight, and modified Firefight (own programming), and accumulated more that 150,000 points offline. Bought some warehouse armor, and lost balance of points when going online to xBoxLive, MatchMaking. Incidentally, during changeout of xBox 360s units, lost all history of Halo Missions completed, so profile shows firefights only.

Bungie: If the moderators would lift this temporary credit ban and let Spartan 7007 play for points in the Matchmaking Arena, this humble servant of the UNSC would be grateful. Playing for zeros is a downer.

Third person speech? Or a different person on the same account?

Anyway, I can tell you're new to MM. You're gonna have a few bumps at first, but eventually you'll be topping the scoreboards. Sadly though, the system isn't smart enough to know the difference between an AFKer and a fresh player, because they generally have the same stats at first. My first game of Halo 3 was awefull lol, good thing there wasn't a banning system back then.

You have at least a dozen AFK games in your Game History, jerk. Stop cheating. You cannot get banned for "not being good at this game", we've heard that lame excuse a thousand times before.

Enjoy your ban. You deserve it.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

The OP claims to be "new to online multiplayer" but has almost 600 games of it, with more than 400 of them in Matchmaking. Yet he has a K/D ratio of 0.08, which is honestly the LOWEST ratio I think is in this game by ANYONE.

Hell, he should be banned just for sucking that much.

  • 06.19.2011 9:16 AM PDT

So let me get this straight... my neighbor came by last night and wanted to try it out. I let her play on my kid's profile (he's a Commander) and she sucked royal... I think she only made 3 kills in 10 games or so, but was NEVER inactive.

Are you saying that this "BanHammer" picked up the obvious 'variance' in my kid's game and classified us as cheating?

Now I have to explain to my kid why we got banned? That's going to suck worse than not being able to play! :P

This is crazy!

Wow! And what's worse is I just found out that by muting all the idle chatter... _I_VE_ been contributing to people's mute ban?

I wish I had known... How do they expect people to just know this stuff?

  • 08.01.2011 9:49 PM PDT

There is nothing for us but what we make for ourselves.

My friend had the same problem starting out on Reach.

She got a better feel for the game by playing Action sack, firefight, and Grifball. Try a few different playlists other than snipers, since snipers has little room for error.

  • 08.01.2011 10:23 PM PDT

By looking through your game history you got credit banned because you are absolutely terrible at this game.

No offence, everybodies gotta start somewhere.

Halo: Reach is the beginning of a new age for gaming.
It proves that developers can get away with punishing their players instead of fixing their game....and yet the fanboys will still sing praises to them.

-blam!- all of you fanboys!

This is a notice to the idiots of Bungie.net.

Every once in a while, you might get a summons to attend jury duty.

I want you to take that thing and RIP IT UP! Throw it away!
NEVER, EVER, Participate in judging another person.

Because you are idiots who have no idea the value of following the 'Innocent Until Proven Guilty' model of justice.

You -blam!- all over it with the way you conduct business on this forum.

I just thought that you should know that.

You should not be involving yourself in anything remotely related to interpreting justice on anyone other than your own damn self.

You people are disgusting!

by the way its Banhammer not HammerBan, i would suspect AFK ban, it really has been a problem especially for newer players. See when you do really bad in-game, the sensor thinks your "AFK" or away from keyboard, in this case controller. This results in serious penalties. Don't bother fighting it, unless you got game footage that you were trying. And even then, you still have to make a significant bungie employee actually give a ****.

Good luck though. You'll need it.

Of course i could be wrong, and the Bannhammer might just have messed up, or it really hates you. Either way good luck. It'll be much easier with some game footage from before you got the ban, which i doubt you have still.

Edit: it may be a AFK, see the system just needs about 3 game, only 3 to declare you an AFK'er. and when you first played matchmaking you may actually have been that bad, no offense

SPARTAN 7007

SPARTAN 7007 back online after a 3 week vacation. Pleased to see the positive comments. My thanks to those of you who believed me, trusted my word, and supported the points I made in my post. Catching up on all the Halo Reach news, I see that major changes are in the works regarding Bungie, and a new company 343.

Understand that Final Bungie ViDoc will be out on 8/4. I received a note of thanks from Bungie this evening when signing online to Halo Reach regarding their last 20 years in video gaming.

I really like the Halo Reach game, it is Super. Have not yet looked at prior Halo games, or Call of Duty, so I don't really have a comparator. But what I do see is a well designed warfare game with strategy, technique, and differentiation in player skill levels.

Hopefully some change will come about regarding the BanHammer design parameters, credit score banning, and the game policing actions. Based on forum post comments of others, these appear to be the sore spots of Halo Reach.

For those of you that inquired, the credit score bans that were imposed 5/2/2011 on my console and account were lifted some time during the last 3 weeks. I am convinced that the Halo Reach forum moderators are not commenting on the credit bans because there are in flaws in the BanHammer programming that interpret any low KD ratio's as AFK. I like everything that Bungie did in developing Halo Reach and making it a fantastic game, but the BanHammer algorithms are flawed, and will hopefully be removed in the near future. It is not right to punish a player who is developing new gaming skills, and not tell that player what they did wrong, what they are being punished for, and how long the punishing bans will last. I continued to play even though I was banned, and with my low kill and high death rate, the BanHammer system just kept reapplying the bans. I was told that it was all computer driven. I am playing solo Halo Reach games for the time being and able to gain score points. Really gun shy about getting back into Matchmaking BTB and Team Snipers, although these were my favorites and I played for hours at a time. Have plenty of videos and commendations to prove that I was indeed at the switch, but what does it matter at this point?

One other point. Halo Reach will go down in video gaming history as a major advancement in video gaming technology and design. The numerous companies that worked with Microsoft and Bungie contributed to the design and development of the awesome Halo Reach game, and they should be proud of the Halo legacy. We will enjoy Halo Reach for years to come.
