Keep it the EXACT same as it was released originally. That's what made it the best FPS ever.
When people tried to take Halo CE and make it better...Brutes were created. Thus, the downfall of the franchise.Halo 2's Brutes were awesome...then in Halo 3 they went to Hot Topic or some -blam!-.
There are a few things that need to change that are givens, and wouldn't really affect gameplay such as removing fall damage (if they can fall from orbit, they'll be fine with that 6 foot drop), tweaking the Warthog to make it drivable across hills (I love the craziness as much as anyone else, but I don't like dying due to flipping end-over-end from a speedbump sized obstacle), ect.
As for additions, boarding, assassinations, and Jackal Snipers are all welcome additions in my book. Congratulations. I can't tell if you're trolling or just incredibly stupid.
First off, the Brutes in Halo 2 were terrible in every possible way. They soaked up bullets like sponges and kept coming at you, they didn't have any strategy except charge you, and you were basically -blam!- if you were in a room or hallway with a berserker.
Second, removing fall damage removes a very major balance point. You know why Hang 'Em High worked so well? Because you couldn't jump around the entire map without consequence. There was an actual reason why you had to be careful on the walkways.
Third, boarding would ruin vehicle combat. Vehicles were dangerous because you had to be very good in order to counter them at close range without a rocket launcher. You want to get rid of that skill gap completely. You have to earn a kill in this game.
Fourth, jackal snipers are not tolerated here. Period. Another reason why CE was so fun is because of the varying styles of combat. Humanity had the ranged weapons while Covenant had short-mid domination. And personally, jackal snipers are the primary reason I would ragequit Halo 2 on higher difficulties.
Fifth, assassinations are a maybe. They were an interesting addition.
