Subject: Honestly, are you sure you want NOTHING changed in the remake?

For me, at least, there were certain things about the campaign of Halo 1 that were annoying, things that were improved upon in the sequels.

First and foremost in my mind are Hunters and how they could be killed with one pistol shot. Do you really want Hunters to be as laughably broken in the re-release as in the original?

Another, smaller thing: health packs. It annoyed me how you automatically used them when you walked over them, even if you were only missing one bar of health.

Also, the handling of vehicles. Warthogs handled like their tires had no treads. Ghosts would go in the direction they were pointed, not the direction you were aiming.

See what I mean? I don't think we should ignore an entire franchise's worth of innovation for nostalgia's sake.

I agree with all your changes except for how the warthogs move. The only things with the vehicles I'd like to be changed is so that they can be destroyed and for the touch of death to be removed.

Child Please

Keep it the EXACT same as it was released originally. That's what made it the best FPS ever.

When people tried to take Halo CE and make it better...Brutes were created. Thus, the downfall of the franchise.

However, I will say, I agree with you about the health packs. I wouldn't be upset if they changed it to "Hold X to Use Health Pack". But other than that, keep everything the same.

THATS MY COOL MAN I CAN'T TAKE IT OFF!

I want the basic flow of gameplay to be intact with all the original weapons/items we had before.

Pretty minor deal in my opinion, but they probably should have had a bit more health in them on legendary.

Maybe that can be addressed if they make a difficulty above legendary, for the people that have been playing since drop day and nowadays can mow through legendary with their eyes closed.

Another, smaller thing: health packs. It annoyed me how you automatically used them when you walked over them, even if you were only missing one bar of health.

Agreed, but again this is a pretty minor thing. I found it second nature to just not take the health pack route if I was only down 1 or 2 bars.

Also, the handling of vehicles. Warthogs handled like their tires had no treads.

On ice. But either way, it's good that they're difficult to handle though, thanks to how easy it is to splatter something.

Ghosts would go in the direction they were pointed, not the direction you were aiming.

What are you talking about? It was perfectly possible to strafe or move diagonally (forward). And either way, again with the splattering

See what I mean? I don't think we should ignore an entire franchise's worth of innovation for nostalgia's sake.

These are all minor issues though. The hunters and health packs I could care less about, the vehicles should stay the same.

God you close minded idiot piss me off. All you do is say " CHANGING A SINGLE THING WOULD KILL THE GAME " . Seriously, that would be a rippoff if they charged you $60 for just the same game with better graphics. THEY HOWEVER SHOULD NOT TOUCH THE CAMPAIGN ! OTHER THAN THAT THEY SHOULD DO QUITE A FEW TWEEKS

Go play Reach you damned fool.

And online multiplayer would be a pretty big part of the sell anyway. You don't want to shell out the $60, don't buy it.

Fixing things like glitches or poor design (i.e. Hunter weakness) is not issue. It's when people are asking for changes to core gameplay and story that is not needed or wanted.

R.I.P. Halo 2
11/9/04 - 4/15/10

Surprisingly enough, I agree with the first two things. Though I think Hunters's health should only be adjusted for the Pistol.

However, I completely disagree with your thoughts on the vehicle physics. That should remain completely untouched.

Ditto to SweetTRIX and BOB.

Though I would like a second campaign for the Marines if possible.

That would be legit, something that plays out similar to "The Flood" novel.

I mentioned on one of the other dozens of threads on this topic that one addition I would love to see is something of a "directors cut" added to the remake (if it happens). Throwing in some new missions that couldn't make the release cut-off and what not.

Possibly more missions, ones the book "The Flood" covers that CE did not, with more cutscenes to explain the overall story better.
^Adding onto this, a Halo 1.5 that plays the events of "First Strike", to add gameplay to the intermission between Halos 1 and 2.

Obviously updated graphics.

Vehicle updates, and some weapon updates (such as fuel rod and energy sword).

THE EXACT SAME MULTIPLAYER MAPS. But with the PC version's extra maps added on.

Just my $1.05

I <3 you all.

Halo 2's Brutes were awesome...then in Halo 3 they went to Hot Topic or some -blam!-.

There are a few things that need to change that are givens, and wouldn't really affect gameplay such as removing fall damage (if they can fall from orbit, they'll be fine with that 6 foot drop), tweaking the Warthog to make it drivable across hills (I love the craziness as much as anyone else, but I don't like dying due to flipping end-over-end from a speedbump sized obstacle), ect.

As for additions, boarding, assassinations, and Jackal Snipers are all welcome additions in my book.

Congratulations. I can't tell if you're trolling or just incredibly stupid.

First off, the Brutes in Halo 2 were terrible in every possible way. They soaked up bullets like sponges and kept coming at you, they didn't have any strategy except charge you, and you were basically -blam!- if you were in a room or hallway with a berserker.

Second, removing fall damage removes a very major balance point. You know why Hang 'Em High worked so well? Because you couldn't jump around the entire map without consequence. There was an actual reason why you had to be careful on the walkways.

Third, boarding would ruin vehicle combat. Vehicles were dangerous because you had to be very good in order to counter them at close range without a rocket launcher. You want to get rid of that skill gap completely. You have to earn a kill in this game.

Fourth, jackal snipers are not tolerated here. Period. Another reason why CE was so fun is because of the varying styles of combat. Humanity had the ranged weapons while Covenant had short-mid domination. And personally, jackal snipers are the primary reason I would ragequit Halo 2 on higher difficulties.

Fifth, assassinations are a maybe. They were an interesting addition.

Really depends on what happens to the visual and audio style. Halo 1 doesn't need assassinations in its current form, it's melees are so juicy and awesome anyway.

True, but a little flair never hurt anybody, so long as it doesn't change the core components.

Wow! Thanks for pointing that out! We need all the vehicles improved. I want the vehicles to be like the ones in Halo 2 and Halo 3. Personally, I prefer that they be hijackable.

"This trampoline would go great with some fried woodchuck!" - Lui Kang

I'd make it so they fixed all the dumb little glitches (Getting outside of the levels, etc)

and make the needler not completely useless besides for embarrassment kills.

thats really all I would change. maybe have more color options for your armor, but not all the crazy wackadoo stuff they got now with different types of armor.

So you went to the trouble of clicking on my profile, either to send a group invite or hate message, or to check my Halo stats and call me a BK. I like Peanut Butter Waffles.

Also, I believe on levels like AOTCR there should be more AI and vehicles, plus giving marines the ability to drive all vehicles.

  • 05.21.2011 7:24 PM PDT

I still want changes. I like what you suggested, hunters were far too easy. Also I would like vehicles that can be destroyed. One thing you did not touch on, I want the enemy vehicles to be boarded, that is now a need. I would like 3 armor abilites, sprint, active camo & overshield.

  • 05.21.2011 7:33 PM PDT

Shoot to thrill

Aim to kill

just have to keep it 100 percent the same game. Yes there are bugs and glitches to exploit but thats what made it great. Its an item of nostalgia and things would only have to be fixed if they took it online.

Congratulations, you have just attempted to nerf vehicles at close range and decreased the skill gap.

  • 05.21.2011 8:36 PM PDT

It it was a true remake then little to nothing will be changed other than graphics.

I hope it's that way with Live support.
