Bigger, faster, stronger, better weapons, strong power armor, tactically minded beast, and if they are any higher than blue they have ridiculous combat experience. I find it unlikely a squad of marines could take on two without heavy weapons or vehicles.

I don't see how a marine could possibly kill an elite...
I don't see why not.

Oh yeah, and they can turn invisible.
Ya shoot em.

Oh yeah?

Covenant would have overwhelmed the UNSC, no doubt.

No I don't think so. It would have either been a stalemate or the UNSC getting overwhelmed from a zerg rush on a planetary scale.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Meh, I think UNSC could have had a chance, I mean, they can still use the MAC Stations right?.

with hundreds of spartan II's on the ground, it is a no-brainer.

>Hundreds
>Spartan II's

wat.

And no, the USNC couldn't have held their ground, atleast I don't think so. If the 700 Covenant ships at Reach had deployed all of their troops, the UNSC would've still been overwhelmed.

Lets be genourous to the Covenant. Lets give them 700 ships capable of landing troops.

5 x Super Carrier @ 100,000 each
100 X Assault Carrier @ 25,000 each
95 X Destroyer @ 15,000 each
500 X Cruiser @ 10,000 each

Given their specific roles, estimated numbers, deployments within a fleet, a generous cryo space on board, and assuming the 700 number doesn't include any support ships, we still only get 9,425,000 troops. Not nearly enough to overwhelm a planet, especially a highly defendable position like Reach.

That's barely enough to overwhelm Europe even. :P

If the UNSC was against every Covenant ground asset, no. A specially trained special ops elite is worth the average spartan. Like the elites in Headhunters.

I doubt a Super Carrier can carry that few troopers, although I now picture Super Carriers at the Long Night Of Solace scale, those would probably hold several hundred thousand troops.

Still it's way too few compared to Reach's 385,421,100 Military personnel.

If I recall correctly, the defenses at Castle Base were near mythical status, what happened with that?

Apparently Mythical defenses are no match for a Scarab.

One on one you are right but I think a squad could take on a pair of elites. Take todays marines for example. A squad of U.S. marines works well together well enough to coordinate fire on a foe like an elite. Imagine how fast that elite would drop when he is being shot by 5-6 ARs at once...

[pisses me off on how the games portray the Marines as weak little wussies.

Well I think its an AI thing mostly. The AI for the Marines can be vary lame lol. But that has sort of become a halo hallmark that the Marines AI sucks lol

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

If 3 ODSTs can kill a Brute Chieftain, then I'm sure a squad of marines will have little problem taking out an Elite.
