"A LIE is a LIE"

- Truly intelligent and deep Black ops trailer

Thanks for the info about the MAC round, I hadn't realized it could theoretically go on until it hits something. Also, I got that range situation from a part of The Fall of Reach, it mentioned the Covenant ships stayed quite a but away from the SMACs, I'll check it later.

Yeah, several covenant ships went out of range of the SMAC's at one point in the battle, from what I recall.

I believe it is this.

"Out of range" simply means the Covenants ships were beyond a point which they could easily maneuver and dodge the MAC rounds in flight.

"In range" meaning they were too close, and wouldn't be able to dodge the round without being hit in some way.

Something I don't understand is how MAC guns have a range at all....In space there shouldn't be anything to slow a round down. Theoretically a shot fired will go an infinite distance till it hits something right? Or am I missing something here?

It is their effective range, not actual range.

The SMAC round still has to travel through space. That takes time. If the Covenant ships are far away enough, then they will be able to detect the round incoming and move out of the round's path.

But as far as actual range goes, it is infinite. Mostly all of the MAC rounds that missed their targets during the Human-Covenant war will still be travelling through space long after Humanity is gone. There is no friction in space to stop them. (Unless they hit a planet or something. But that is unlikely given how huge space is)

Oh gosh, that'd be funny as hell.

*Hundreds of years later, galactic peace is happened, and suddenly a trio of MAC rounds fired in a battle between the UNSC and the Covenant impact a world. Intergalactic war is started due to this occurrence.*

Or...

...the ship happened to have been facing the general direction of Earth at the time?

Irony, at its height. :P

Ummm, I don't think that universe is round... it's vastly infinite so those MAC rounds that missed, are more likely to hit something such as star, blackholes, unknown planets, colony planets, etc. Or it just goes for infinite.... forever.

Hitting at Earth? Sure, if UNSC ships were facing their guns to directions of Earth... >.>

Was there not a thread with people suggesting NOVA tipped MAC rounds a while ago?

Oh god...

Haha XD Yeah there was, I can't imagine what that would be like, normal MAC or SMAC round would be bad enough :/

New game that adds to canon and story> new game that trys to fill nonexistent wholes in a plot by making more inconsistencies.

The that's the actual execution of the game. We are talking about the CONCEPT of Halo 4 compared to the Battle of Reach.

If I was a bungie employee and I was told "Ok, two choices, we make our FOURTH big game based of MC and Cortana for the FOURTH TIME, or, we make a prequel based of the Battle of Reach, with new characters"

Which would you say yes to? I sure as hell know.

Keep in mind the original idea is different from the execution of the game.

We already know how the Battle of Reach went down.

No, no no no no no!
Even combining the game and book we still only have a tiny fraction of the events that occurred during the Battle of Reach.

We do not know "how [it] went down".

Please stop being willfully ignorant, the book only displayed a fraction of the battle. Reach has many stories, characters and battles to be told.

A Halo FPS without Jason Jones, Joe Staten, or Frankie is destined to fail.

Who said there was one? I'm grateful Frank and some Bungie employees are going to be working on the next several halo games.

Joe, Jason, and Frankie had absolutely no part in Reach's development.

Really? I expected that joe and jason were playing a part. I may be wrong.

So basically the Universe forum is pretty evenly split? I expected those voting 3 to be a little more numerous than 1 and 2, but I think that's to be expected as those who are at the least happy with Reach won't be complaining and thus won't be as numerous.

The universe forum is not split. Most of the threads are almost unrelated to the Reach/TFOR canon, so its not like there's any difference that will spark some kind of devision in the universe forums.

I didn't say the majority of the threads were about Reach, I meant that this thread indicates that people are pretty evenly split on the issue, lots more people will vote than comment, I can almost guarentee you that there are not 80something individual users who have commented on this thread.
