Um, doubtful. You see, unlike others who cannot accept canon changes, and thus blame it ALL on Bungie who MUST be trying to sabotage their creation...

I know Bungie and frankly, they love halo. Honestly, if they wanted to punch canon in the gut they would have done far more drastic things.

You do not 'know' Bungie, what do you know about them beyond what we see in videos? I hate to keep using George Lucas as an example, but when it came to making the prequels he revealed he was a businessman first who couldn't give a flying toss about the story and just wanted the money. He only wanted to beat Titanic. Bungie have become much of the same.

Wait wait wait, are you seriously suggesting that "Bungie <3 Halo" is absurd because Daefaron couldn't possible know then making an equally absurd comment about Bungie only being in it for the money?

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

If you think about it bungie appeals to the people that don't know/care about halo more than they do to the people who care.
so in the aiming for a larger fanbase that cares more about multiplayer than story (because idiots don't realize servers will be shut off) they lean to them.

So pretty much bungie is in a sense more concerned with making money seeing how they have a world domination campaign and care more about the masses.

A: I never saw the prequels as bad story...

You obviously never watched them then, not one thong in those films made any sense and alienated everything in the originals... Ooh, kind of like Reach?

B: If they wanted to destroy the canon to sabotage 343 (Which, on the contrary, Bungie has outright said they look forward to what 343 does in the future), they'd have done FAR, far worse.

Because they'd obviously condemn them publically...

Need I dig up Snakie's statement from last year at E3 where he said he heard a Bungie employee state that 343 are just there to milk the franchise?

Not directed to you since we are on the same side (as always)

but everything 343i has done so far exceeds what we all thought they would do. sure they were few mishaps when they first started but all my doubts are gone at this point.

I find that statement interesting since 343i ("the milker") hasn't even done a game yet, and i would pick what they have done over halo 3 and maybe reach.

I watched them, and they didn't 'alienate' the originals. Then again, I don't freak out over tiny details.

To save myself ranting for 3 hours, I suggest you listen to Harry Plinkett. There was not a single thing in the prequels done right, not just tiny details I mean EVERYTHING.

I'm not here to argue with you, at the end of the day it's your opinion. But you're also wrong. Presume all you like about me, I honestly don't care, but take my advice and watch the Plinkett reviews.

Perhaps, but even if or when I watch those reviews, I bet I'll just shake my head and disagree with it for several reasons.

"One sided and bias" being one of those reasons? A tad hypocritical, no? Accusing me of something you think I'd be when that's what you're doing.

both you and coma have the tendency not to listen to something that goes against what you are arguing for.

I prefer to call it "Being open-minded."

I do listen to opposing viewpoints, as long as they are presented in an intelligent manner.

As for things? I would have to say off the top of my head making small, or not so large issues appear far larger then they actually are.

...canon as we know it.

This is exactly the reason any and all canon-related arguments against Reach, or any other Halo media fail.

We DON'T know canon. We have been given little snippets of information over the past decade, from totally different points of view, detailing different events that span 40 years. (not including ancient history)

We connect the dots and try to make sense of it all, but ultimately until all the gaps get filled in we can but guess.
This can be annoying at times, like a TV series having a mid-season break, but it keeps the franchise fresh and gives the developer more time to think up something awesome.
It also means there will be new Halo for a long time to come, something I am very glad of.

Except for the fact that most of the books are written in a God-perspective.

Or so we thought. We THOUGHT we knew about all the SPARTANs, but clearly we didn't.

They are written in a god-mode to an extent, but only regarding critical information required for the plot to progress. Anything we don't NEED to know isn't included.

Reach ain't God-perspective. If you read the notes that came with the LE, you'd know it was manufactured by ONI.

God-perspective>Manufacturer-perspective

How on earth is disregarding opposing viewpoints being open-minded?

That does not justify pre-emptive Ad Hominem fallacies, like what you did when AJ told you to look at Plinkett's arguments.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

This is why we can't have nice things. Both sides, myself included, all love Halo to death, but our opposing viewpoints clash far too violently. Most people think Reach broke canon. Obviously most of you know I disagree, but I won't ignore any valid points presented. Caboose and ajw all make good points that I respect, but I can't agree with the overall concept of Halo canon being ruined. Everything in my feeble mind clicks together.

A futile effort, but can't we all just get along without tempers flaring? Everyone has an opinion.

I am watching it, and the guy is boring me to death. Monotome, goes to talk about how "Everything in ep1 doesn't make a lick of sense." (Um, did to me!) and then proceeds to talk in circles about everything besides star wars for a few minutes until FINALLY getting back on track with the 'review'.

Even then, his "ask about the characters" seems like he chose specifically people who would agree with them. Then goes to ask about characters well-developed as opposed to a newly introduced character....(While bouncing between the same four-five people instead of a random selection)

I'm sorry, but I'm not really seeing from this supposed factual review how -blam!- awful Ep1 was.

On topic about Reach, yeah Cobra kinda hit the nail with his comment. It'd be smoother if the two sides didn't rabidly attack each other. Not saying one is better then the other, but both groups have had their little bit of just outright attacks without intelligence.

It wasn't ruined, but bungie shouldn't have changed how it was done. Reach was pretty much harvest 1.5

I can see that. The lack of the Orbital MACs and a large fleet presence was fairly lacking, however, there is a lot we didn't see. I mean, I would expect the UNSC to hold off attacking the Supercarrier since it's a SUPERcarrier.

As for the MACs, didn't we see a MAC round strike the corvette during ONI SWORD Base? During Tip of the Spear I also heard the UNSC was tied up in the Viery Territory AND orbital defenses. So obviously the UNSC was getting it's butt kicked before the Supercarrier popped up.

Quite honestly, we didn't see too much of the space side of the conflict. That's just me though.
