Well, before the covenant spartans would fight against mostly rebels and stuff. There could be a game on that, but, the game probably would not be that active because it would just be about spartans getting orders to destroy certain rebels and groups and thats about it.

There's still milk left in the Covenant. There are still many Halo rings out there, and I think it's safe to assume that there are still plenty of indoctrinated and overzealous Covies out there looking for them. I personally doubt that the events on The Ark just convinced everyone to realise the true nature of the array - just look at how Tartarus and his Brutes, right before activating the Halo, almost without a thought ignored the facts they got shoved up in their faces.

That said, it would be interesting if a new species or collective of was introduced. I just think it would be tricky to make them original while having them make sense and wanna activate the rings for a story-wise acceptable reason.

IMO, introducing a whole new race would ba waaaaay to much of a throwaway. It'd imply 343i doesn't know what they're doing and ran out of ideas. Remember, the Halo story isn't over yet; the Flood still exists.

It's quite tricky and delicate, this matter. A game with only hostile rebels or Flood to fight would be boring for the majority, fighting Forerunners is simply impossible, and a new alien race or faction would either be good or very, very bad. I mean, I don't see any ways where they could fit in.

Yeah. I have looked into that and in a magizene. it said somthing about the ending mastercheif is flying over a forerunner planet.

Covenant are done after Halo 3.

The Elites turned on them, the grunts were forced to fight, the jackals were always more privateers than anything else, though some did believe in the religion. Brutes and Prophets are dead, the Elites would not let them get away with the -Blam- they pulled. Hunters don't believe either, they joined so they could explore space, so will probably go their own way. We'll see what the drones do.

Thats why you streamline the Flood to be a more primary force rather then space zombies.

The previous games depicted them as a secondary enemy, with the Covenant being the primary (save for Halo Wars, which was a slightly more accurate depiction of Flood).

The Flood's biology allows for literally limitless variations of Flood to emerge on the battlefield. 343i could seriously get creative and take the Flood's Superr Cell to new levels.

This is the Cell that allows the Flood to create anything they might need to either operate more effectively or counter a specific threat. An example I always use is the Tank Forms in Halo Wars, designed for the express purpose of destroying Scorpions and taking their firepower.

Halo 4 could truly be a new and innovative step for Halo, where 343i presents the Flood in their proper form: a singular, ever evolving and adapting super alien that cannot be stopped. The variations in Flood breeds are mind bogoling. And with them being the primary alien enemy, they would be unconstrained from a devolopment standpoint.

If they are determined to continue the story after Halo 3, I'd much rather see it entirely follow the Covenant. I think the story of the Chief and humanity ended just fine, and doesn't need to be continued. Yes, we all like the Chief, he's a great character. But putting him in game after game after game is a sure fire way to make everyone end up hating him. A good story needs a beginning, middle and end, a fact many games, movies and TV shows forget.

The Arbiter's story however is still continuing. I was a little disappointed in Bungie when they chose to make the Arbiter irrelevant in H3, so if 343 continues after the events of H3, I'd like to follow the Arbiter as he lead the Elites against the remaining Brutes and Covenant Loyalists.

Beautiful post. I agree completely.

not all prophets/brutes are dead only a very few actually, i mean hello!!! they still have their homeworlds. hunters/scarabs are trained/controlled, they hardly "think" for themselves. drones are an enslaved race so unless they try to rebel they are there to say. the covies are not done.

Actually there were only a few thousand prophets prior to the outbreak of the war, the majority of which lived on High Charity, so they're floodbait.

I'd have to agree with this. While the flood is still a real threat I'd rather see a Halo game follow the Arbiter after the war or at least a new novel. There is still potential there for a great story, and character wise I always preferred playing as the Arbiter than the Chief.
