For those of you at Bungie, I was thinking of attending college to come out with a degree that could take me some where in the gaming industy-im still not sure which degree is right for me. Anyway, one of the schools i was looking at was "Digipen" in Redmond and i was curious as to what employers think of this institute or if they would recommend another one in the WA area. Im still in the early stages of decision making so any comments from bungie i would sure appreciate.
P.S. what does it take to be a game tester and can you move up from this position.

Be cautious of degrees specifically in "Game Design." None of the hardcore game developers you can think of have one of those degrees. In fact, many developers turn people down for having degrees in "Game Design." Make sure your degree program is strong, perhaps not necessarily a degree in 3d. For example, many level designers have architectural degrees, many animators have degrees in classical animation, etc.

As for being a game tester? Bungie doesn't hire testers. They use Microsoft employees for their testing now, because they can be held more liable for information leaks. Their job is at stake, essentially.

A lot of people start off as testers and then move on to all sorts of other jobs. Shame you're not in Britain, as Lionhead offer a one week testing placement.

Some companies do get a bit wary about "computer game design" courses. Many universities will do a game design, or game programming degree, but in actual fact very few are academically rigourous, and teach proper software engineering practices (which, in professional software development, is the most important thing). The best thing to do is go get a degree in Computer Science from a good university, or get a degree in a related field such as Physics or Math.

Also, you could try looking in your local bookstore. There are many fine books covering areas of game design and game programming in there. Also, try going to www.gamedev.net -they are pretty much the definitve site on game development, and have articles on everything from programming, to animation and design.

Hope this helps.
