Subject: If the Covenant came to the Earth in the 40's...

What would have happened? Would they have let WW2 play out and just watch and laugh?

Think of your idea's, would the world powers unite to fight the Covenant or would they continue fighting each other AND the Covenant? Play out your story.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

It has already been raging for a few months, how has it not developed?

It would have been like that Orson Wells radio broadcast, except there actually were aliens.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

How did the Covenant find Earth? That changes everything. The fact that they believed humans were using Forerunner technology on Harvest led the Prophets to believe that humans were defying their religion, thus to preserve the Covenant ordered our extermination.

If the Covenant found us by accident and weren't led to Earth by data, it would play out very different.

"Living to smile, and not to succeed; smiling to inspire happiness, not to give the illusion you are happy; creativity and music to inspire smiling, which in turn inspires happiness; being nice to be happy, not for being perceived a good person."

I assume that they would more than likely have just killed us.

We had no nuclear weapons until the end of the war, and so few of which that we couldn't do anything. So they couldn't rely on us being able to kill ourselves until much later date. And being able create nuclear weapons is a clear indication of being close to space travel.

So just glass us then and there and being over with it would be the best choice at that time. (assuming that Humanity is known to be an affront to their religion at that time)

Exactly. They could have told us to join the Covenant. Anything is possible. Thus why I told you to play out your story.

They didn't believed that, Mendicant Bias told them they were Forerunners, the Prophets knowing this, decided to wipe out humanity or else, the Great Journey would have been proved to be a lie and the Covenant would have been split down.

Okay. So since the only reason the Covenant started the war with humanity is because they were led to Harvest believing Forerunner tech was there via data collected, it is safe to say Earth would have been found completely by accident. In which case, the Covenant would have no reason to wipe us out.

The Elites, seeing us as inferior but competent, would be able to persuade the Prophets into offering us absolution through assimilation. Since the only species' yet to be discovered were the Grunts and Brutes, (Grunts in the 2100's, then Brutes in the 2400's) the Covenant may have viewed our interior fighting as a signal of weakness and inferiority.

Thus if we were offered a seat (and the Elites would want us in, I believe), not every human would just come together instantly and say "yes" or "no". No government would come up with a true effective response. Seeing as saying "no" would be a signal for the Covenant to exterminate us, but us being arrogant and not wanting to join, we would most likely take the Grunts' place as the slaves of the Covenant military.

Being enslaved, the Covenant would take some of us aboard and indoctrinated. A Covenant fleet would stay on Earth to keep an eye on us and to resupply the rest of the Covenant Navy with fresh humans. If humans revolted (and we would numerous times), the Human Rebellion would play out just like the Grunt Rebellion. The Covenant would begin glassing Earth to exterminate the human race, and the humans would surrender to save ourselves.

However humans would have earned more rights in the Covenant, at least to the point of not living a life of indefinite servitude. Religiously the Covenant would try to convert us but it would never really happen for a few hundred years, when they could reeducate the new generations.

Did you pay attention to what he said earlier? This is in the 40's, before the Prophets knew of the Humans were reclaimers in the first place. Although eventually the Covenant would notice that Humans could tinker with Forerunner technology and use it to their advantage and get them to fire the rings.

"Concise and devoid of elegance...what I have come to expect from human communication"-Endless Summer

Initial Covenant would probably hover over major cities and wait for the Prophets to say what to do. Without Mendicant Bias to say we ARE Reclaimers we would most likely be part of the Covenant. When the Covenant actually finds out we are Reclaimers then two things could happen 1)We are put in a place of great importance in the Covenant or 2)We go into a war against several if not all races within the Covenant, likely resorting with us winning with our Dual Wield Needler Shock Troopers.

I doubt Mendicant Bias would allow the Covenant to subjugate Humanity.

But at the moment they came near Earth their luminaries would have spotted million of reclamation glyphs. Things would go like on Harvest. Covenant would just destroy humanity without further thiniking.

Well, the covenant were in a much different form at the time. And I belive the only species would have been Prophets, Elites, and maybe Grunts. Nevertheless, humanity would've just been burnt to a crisp, especially since we only had one world.

The Unggoy were integrated into the Covenant in 2142, which until then were at Tier 6 on the Forerunner Technological Achievement Tiers. So maybe we would replace the Unggoy?

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

Well... I'd say that the Covenant would embrace us. The only thing that stopped them from doing so before was Truth and Regret. Which, at that time, neither was alive.

Unless, of course, other San Shyuum(?) came to similar conclusions as Truth and Regret did, in which case, we would be burned out of existence.

Replace Truth, Mercy and Regret with some other prophets and it will be fairly the same thing. Can you imagine? Mendicant Bias will go nuts!
