Subject: How strong are Jackals and Skirmishers?

I am really curious as to the physical strength of these creatures, jakals are often described as week but there as tall as a man, maybe bigger...

Anyone have an opinion?

If you look at them, they are fairly skinny, so they probably arent that strong. They do have muscle though...

The Kig-Yar are 210cm tall and weigh on average 195 pounds, so they might be pretty strong. Im sure a fully trained Marine could wipe the floor with them in hand to hand combat.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

As far as actual strength goes, we cannot be sure, I mean the only display of strength they demonstrate is when they (skirmishers) jump to a second floor or higher, that's really impressive and they must be really strong on their lower body.

they're skinny and look small in game, but they're better built than most humans and are fairly strong, most of them would probably have no issues overpowering a marine

This.

They are also fairly animalistic, meaning you would get mauled if you tried to fight one in hand to hand combat. (Unless you're a Spartan or Elite for that matter.)

If they were so strong then they would be used more often as front line combat troops. They're fast and nimble so naturally they make good scouts and snipers. Maybe their muscle density and fibers are different than a humans.

I'd say it most likely is considering they're aliens, lol.

I know that, im saying their muscle fibers may not be as tough or efficient as ours. They seem really stringy, Kinda like chicken.

Why do you say that? Look at the Jackal's arms after you kill them. They have quite a bit of muscle. I'd put an average Jackal about equal in physical strength to that of a Human in apex physical condition. I'm pretty sure its mentioned several times that out of the sapient species mentioned in Halo, regular un-tampered civilian humans are the weakest physically.

Taller and faster than a Human.
Stronger is determined on the user.

Yeah, I'd say normal Jackal is about equal to a fit human male, but skirmishers... They must be ripped, remember the "velociraptors" in Jurassic park? Skirmishers are bigger, stronger faster and smarter.

It would be amazing to play from a marines perspective, and to actually fear the covennant.

They're bigger in hieght and wieght more than a human. They're even as tall as a Spartan III. I'd say they could beat up a human quite easily. I would have said that a human could take a jackel if we had better agility but that is no way the case. I reckon that jackels are stronger, faster and more clever & agile than us, plus they got teeth and claws for ripping.

Also they are quite brave. Remember that Jackel that stood up to that Brute in Halo 2?

Given that their homeworld has a lower gravity than Earth, and that they have lived in asteroid habitats for some time, it would come as no surprise that they are physically frail compared to Humans. Which is probably why they use shields as well. They may appear to have large muscles, but speaks nothing about how much they actually have or how efficient they are.

ODST got pretty close to that.
Hunters... *shudders*
hunters can be killed with 2 nades. you can have 12 at a time, so..

You seen how high a skirmisher can jump?

That means that it kicking someone with one of those legs at their weight could propel them that far.

They are very strong.

Yeah, skirmishers must be frighteningly fast and strong, think velociraptor on steiroids....

Nay, raptors on crack, that is a more fitting analogy.

I wouldn't say there brave because Jackals are Mercenaries for the covenant, thats why they don't side with the elites during the great schism.

  • 05.22.2011 2:46 PM PDT

A jackal would butcher a normal human, but a trained soldier would defeat it. If Skirmishers had could melee in-game, one kick would probably be sufficent to seriously harm a Spartan.

Just my thoughts.

He'd have instantly stopped and knelt down, one fist on the ground, hoping to be impervious to the officer's attacks. When this would have failed and he's in the back of the police car, he'd blame his predicament on his friends for not being team players.

Well, considering how high they jump, They must be very strong.

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

Skirmishers can jump about the same height/distance of a human Combat Form in CE, and those forms are canonically capable of killing Marines with strong hit.

Here's some information on raptors if you want to compare and contrast.
