Ahh it's you. Been a while hasn't it? We WILL finish this.

Just you wait.

If you noticed, in halo 3 master chiefs HUD is very different from halo 2. Yet he never got any sort of upgrades that changed his HUD. He never got new armor either. Its all the same exact armor frm halo 2. The same armor chief first wore in halo 2 is the same exact armor he wore in halo 3. And in none of the games or books or any type of halo related canon explained this. So why does he have a different HUD?

Also if you look closely at chiefs hands, the gauntlets look a little different too. Did any one notice that except me?

"What do you hear?"
"Nothing but the rain."
"Then grab your gun and bring in the cat."
"Boom, boom, boom!"

We all noticed that back in '06-'07. It's a graphical update. Same thing the Mark V went through between Halo:CE and Halo:Reach. Nothing major.

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

No, it is a graphical update. Though i (for some reason) think he did get a new version of gloves. other than that they are the same.

  • 05.21.2011 5:49 PM PDT

I imagine that Mjolnir's HUD would be frequently updated, it would just be a simple software patch.

Halo 1 and halo reach thing can be explained. Those are obviously different models of mark five armor. What doesn't make sense is how chiefs HUD changed and he didn't even get the update in any of the games or canon. I'm talking about canon not gameplay. How did the HUD change when chief never got the chance for an update?

  • 05.21.2011 6:03 PM PDT

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

You can probably set the HUD the way you see fit in Canon, so he probably changed it.

There's no reason to think that the Mark V in Reach is a different model from Halo: CE. It's an entirely graphical, aesthetic change. I think the same thing is true with the HUD in H2-H3.

Noble Team wears MJOLNIR Mk.V[B], not the same as Chief's armor.

Mk.V[B] is just a helmet.

Aren't the shoulders and knee pads different? I'm sure the core components are the same, but I don't think it's exactly the same armor.

Nope, the Mark V shoulders are the same, just visually updated and a little bulkier and the Grenadier kneepads are the ones used by the Spartan II's

But the ones Noble Six have are way different that the normal Mk.V shoulders.

And those would be? The base armor is Mark V, the only things that change are the chest, helmet, shoulders and kneepads. But deep in the core it is the same armor as the one shipped to the Spartan II's.

I wonder what exactly the B means then.

I think I'd remove the chest. Those just seem like add-ons/attachments then anything else.

Probably to differentiate between the standard helmet and the privatized variant. The same way the rogue helmet in Halo 3 is the Mk. VI[A].

True, those are mostly attachments.

maybe he can configure the HUD to his liking?

  • 05.21.2011 7:50 PM PDT

My name is Legion, for we are many.

Same armor but the HUDs in H2 and H3 ran on different operating systems in the suit.

  • 05.28.2011 10:25 PM PDT

Maybe there's a list of preset HUDs in the helmet and Chief changed it.

Maybe, but the overall suit is Mark V. Helm, shoulders, and kneepads may be different but overall it's plain old, graphically updated Mark V.

  • 05.28.2011 10:47 PM PDT

Bungie wanted to make the hud look more realistic.

"better graphics", essentially.
