I have been pondering this question for a little while now...were the Heretics considered good or bad? Or does it depend on how one looks on it? I mean, I can see how they are viewed as bad, since they said the Great Journey was a lie and pretty much betrayed the Prophets. On the other hand, they were right about how the Great Journey would destroy them all, and eventually, the Elites saw the truth also and broke off from the Covenant.

What's your take on this?

I <3 Halo 2 and Trombones ^.^

The Heritics had it right, the Halo ring would destroy them all. But the prophets insisted they were evil and the Arbiter believed them until it was to late.. So yeah all in all they were the good guys

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

To us, they were the good guys. They joined our cause at a critical moment.

But again, good and evil are relative. Believers in the great journey hated the heretics with all they had.

So how did the Heretics figure it out? Was it in one of the books?

Toward the end of CE MC went from trying to set off the rings to stopping the activation. The Heretics must have changed at around that time?

They gained access to Guilty Spark. He then answered all their questions about Halo, and the Heretics realized that the prophets had been lying to them the entire time.

It was in Halo 2. When they find Guilty Spark at the Heretic station.

Yeah, I never fully understood just what took place on that station.

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

You could consider them the good guys, they were against the prophets and tried to stop them before they got crushed. Then again they were listening to the crazy AI that killed one of the best characters in Halo, poor Johnson he shall be missed.

Halo 2 for Life!

they were bad because they fired weapons at my avatar.

past that they might have had good intentions but they were bad for trying to kill my avatar!

The Heretics had it right, with knowledge given to them by Guilty Spark.

I love that mission...so, so much.

Halo 2 for Life!

I actually didn't like that level as much as the others. It was pretty cool to play as the Arbiter but I found the start of the level boring, I'll need to play it again to recall the rest of the level but I didn't think the banshee chase was to great either (especially on lower levels).

Now that I think back on it, that was one of the better missions. So much plot... But you're right, it did start off pretty slow.

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

Account Status: Silver :(

Really hard to tell right now. Microsoft (343) could change the plot at anytime and spin off some other reason for the rings so you never know. All indications are that the Elites (Heretics) are the good guys and that's why they joined forces with the humans. I for one still have a lot of questions about the flood and that relates to activating the rings.

Imagine a triangle. It's perfect, but a little plain. You take a chisel, and carve a small decorative symbol into it to make it a little more interesting. People like it, but it could use a little more.

So you then take a sledgehammer..

I think the OP is referring to the heretics on the Forerunner mining facility.

Tu Madre

This is why I love Halo 2 campaign, it actually took time and thought to understand the story. Just like a book.

Weather they are good or bad depends on what team YOU are on, they were good only to other heretics, they were still against the humans i think, and obviously against the covenant.
