Subject: Why Is Halo Skewed?

One side of the ring is slighty larger, so from the surface Halo seems to lean to one direction. I remember reading that this lean had a purpose, but I can't remember where. Can anyone help?

For any questions about Halo, go to Halo wiki. They have everything.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Gravitational pull maybe? Could also be balancing, I honestly don't have a clue.

Most of it wrong though. Better to stick with the Universe forum....thats my thoughts anyway

here is my theory on the matter, firstly would argue that the Installation is not skewed, riding a bike for example with a damaged wheel (slightly skewed or bent) gives you wicked vibrations and totally messes up all the balance of the thing, you don't skew something like that or it will result in an unbalanced structure. my guess is the surface of the ring isn't flat, its slightly concave, which depending on where your standing would give the impression that the ring (in the sky) is 'leaning' slightly to either side, unless you are in the middle of the concave. even though it appears to be leaning the ring is in-fact uniform, just your perspective has changed slightly.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that, and anyone who really knows the Halo story (which admins and such on Halopedia do) would fix whatever was wrong in an edit.

the issue is that there are too many mistakes, conjecture, and bias views on halopedia. It is the if not one of the worst gaming wikis

Are you talking about www.halopedian.com or halo.wikia.com? I was talking about the former, it's must more accurate than halo.wikia is.

I assume you are talking about the Halo ring shown to us on Forge World. In that case, I believe it's just how it shows in the skybox. At the time of development the skybox could have went to wrong position and made the ring look like skewed. Then Bungie didn't think it as bad enough to be fixed. As you can clearly see in this picture from Halo CE, the ring isn't scewed.

If that isn't good enough to you, I have another theory. It may be because of the formation of the landspace. What I mean is that when you are on a landscape which mostly slopes slightly to a direction. To you this looks like you are standing on flat ground but in fact, you are standing on a slope. It's an optical illusion. This could be the case with Forge World.

Yeah Halopedian is way better.

Both. halopedian still hasn't updated many pages with cryptum information.

  • 05.23.2011 10:19 AM PDT

Well, from what I've heard, cryptum doesn't have much hard information/facts to be used...

Either way, how does that bloody effect the quality of the rest of the information?

Their glassing article is still out of date largely. I laughed when I read "they spend considerable time vaporising all bodies of water" and "the atmosphere can be boiled away". They still have that picture of the chandelier like thing in High Charity and claim it to be where glass shards from glassed worlds are hung.

Only on Halopedian would 76 be countless...

Thanks!

Halo Nation:The Halo ring in the skybox does not extend straight up, but bends to one side. This is because the inside of the ring is concave, if it was flat, the centrifugal force caused by the ring's spinning to simulate gravity would cause objects to fall sideways and the artificial atmosphere to become unstable and escape the ring. This implies that Forge World takes place closer to the edge of the ring.

Thanks also to PLUTONIUM, who told me earlier, but I didn't understand.

The ring curves up at the edges, bro.
