halo 2 br with bxr and bxb, and double and quad shots is 10x more legendary.
after that the pistol but way below the halo 2 br for me.
You prefer a weapon that ground the skill curve into dust? Not exactly my idea of a good weapon, all it really did was give birth to the spawn trap/fire lane camping that Halo has been known for for the last few titles.
I realize that quite a few people like the simplicity offered by "one weapon to rule them all", but I always found it extremely boring, and not all that challenging.
The CE pistol was laughably powerful for a pistol, but at least it was balanced with it's accompanying sandbox. Sure you could cross-map with it, but you needed to be a good shot to pull it off. It's slow ROF also limited it from being dominant at close ranges.
How did the br lessen the skill gap in halo 2? The br and its button combinations are what made halo 2 the most competitive generation 6 and 7 console shooter. Anyone against bxr, doubleshotting, etc was just too bad to pull them off
I didn't say it "lessens the skill gap", I said it flattened the skill curve, there is a difference. In CE you had to be a multifaceted player to dominate, that meant that the player with the best map knowledge, varied weapon use, movement ability, and reaction times were very dangerous. Halo 2 introduces the BR and the 98% of the game revolves around a single weapon, and associated tactics that rely on that weapon. That doesn't mean that there is no longer a gap in skill between players, but that gap is defined by a single skill set.
The BR didn't make Halo 2 any more competitive than CE was, all it did was make is so damn simple that it attracted more people to the game. That doesn't mean Halo 2 was terrible, but it was simpler.
So you're trying to tell me that everyone using one weapon in halo 1 is somehow different than everyone using one weapon in halo 2?
No personal offense to you, but if you and whoever you played with only ever used the pistol in CE then you were either not very good at the game, or did nothing else but strafe-fire all day. The CE pistol did not dominate the weapon sandbox as the BR did in Halo 2/3. In CE pretty much every weapon had utility, which is not something that can be said about Halo 2 or 3.
