I used to play Halo 3 and ODST a lot, but my service record somehow was deleted when I signed up for Xbox Live, and now it says I played one game of firefight.

First, to tell you, I am not asking what to buy, I am asking what you think is better. Halo Reach or Halo 3? They both have their straingths and weaknesses. Halo Reach has a great campaign, BUT Halo 3 has many maps good for forging and private matches. It is a hard call considering Halo Reach has Forge World, but I think Halo 3 Is better. I think that because Halo 3 has a lot more maps than Reach, and sandtrap is AWESOME because of the elephants. (which bring some fun, exiting, and interesting big team battles) But- that is my opinion, so post your opinion and I will see if I am the only one who likes 3 better than Reach.

Find The Bomb?!
I'm Looking For The Flag!

Halo 3 had stronger core gameplay due to the absence of bloom.

I personally see no real difference, both have problems, but neither one is broken or anything like that. Both are awesome. I really don't see any differences between any of the games when it comes to the quality of the campaign or gameplay or anything else, it's all the same to me.

Yes I'm fairly young. No, that doesn't mean I'm automatically dumber than you or have less life experience, thats just generally the case. I am not your general case.

I spent so much awesome time in Halo 3 its the only obvious answer.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Halo 3 was such a great game. The campaign was a lot of fun and the multiplayer was awesome. The maps were far superior to Reach's and it was overall more fun to play. Reach's multiplayer caters to the casual players and just isn't fun. I mean, Armor Lock, really? Anyhow, Halo 3's campaign was the finale to the trilogy. Sure, 343i is making another Halo, but H3 was pretty much the end. Reach's campaign was an abomination. They should've followed the book. Instead, they went with a really crappy campaign that felt like a side-story and had stupid characters. Plus, it's supposed to be an invasion. I didn't feel invaded at all. Halo 3's campaign felt was more large scale and Bungie kept boasted that they could do 40 AI with Reach. There was no sense of global, or even large scale, battle with Reach. And it was supposed to be an invasion. Overall, Reach failed in pretty much every area and Halo 3/ODST completely won in almost every area.

I r SmARteSt Than U!!!!

I believe Halo 3 because the story was beautiful and almost everything about the game was amazing. Also, to me being a complete Halo enthusiast, Halo Reach really ruined the story and background from the books. The game itself is great, but for an old Halo CE player like me the gameplay was no longer Halo, and there were too many issues with the storyline to count. Just my personal humble opinion.

I prefer Halo 3. It had very good multiplayer and a good campaign even though it was pretty short. Only thing in Halo Reach that is better is Forge. Of course graphics too but you got my point.

Edit: I also prefer Halo 3 art style over the style in Halo Reach.

halo reach is so much better than halo 3 halo 3 -blam!-

  • 05.24.2011 10:43 AM PDT

Halo 3 had way better maps and took skill, while Reach, which can be fun, takes no skill and has barly any good maps. So yeah, Halo 3 wins my vote.
My case in point, Armor Lock.

Ex. Oh hey I stuck you with a plasma nade...... oh ....no.....wait....it bounce off.....ARRMMOOORR LOOOOCCC-blam!-!!!

I honestly thought Reach had the weakest campaign, but its your opinion I guess. Halo 3 was just more fun basically. Good structured and thought out multiplayer maps(which werent bits stolen from the campaign). Excellent emotional story with entertaining levels that didnt have the same bland Mountainous look that Reach had.

wrong forum dude, this doesn't have anything to do with Halo fiction.

you'd probably get more responses in the respective game forums anyway.

I found Halo 3 less frustrating due to it having significantly easier campaign gameplay.
However the visual upgrade Reach has engages my senses more and the rewards (armoury) system has kept me playing much longer than I otherwise would have done.

Both have strengths and weaknesses and I couldn't choose one. If I had to though I would, regardless of what I may have said in the past, choose Reach. Simply because the story is a brave depart from the usual and well... VISUAL UPGRADE FTW!!

Bloom is in every game, you just didn't notice because you don't see it. This is the reason we were told to pace our AR shots in 3.

This is a hard choice but i would say reach.

Reach's campaign was better, halo 3 was ruined by changes in development, being rushed, etc.
