I used to play Halo 3 and ODST a lot, but my service record somehow was deleted when I signed up for Xbox Live, and now it says I played one game of firefight.

Everyone knows about Halo 3 and Halo Reach, But what happened to Halo 3 ODST? I mean, I never hear anyone talking about ODST. I went to a store and sold ODST for $5 when halo 3 and Reach were more. Why did Halo 3: ODST go forgotten?

Depends where you look. ODST is well loved here and in the ODST forum.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

You sold ODST? Then, why are you here? If you sold it, then I assume you don't like it or prefer Reach over it. Either way, that means you didn't get to really delve yourself into the campaign that was so beautifully crafted and, therefore, you can answer your own question. Many people are just like you. That's why not a lot of people talk about it. They didn't delve themselves into the story/campaign.

LOL, you didn't even play the campaign. You played one game of FF. Just sad...

I still have two copies of ODST left, and I beat the campaingn on my other non- live profile. I REALLY hate how when you sighn up for live, you lose all your progress.

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

People thought it was a fully fledged game, when Bungie had stated many times before that it was only an expansion, and it may have been a little over-hyped.
IMO: One of the best Halo games to date.

Wow, that's news to me, and if so true, shame on Bungie! Or... xbox? :O

You Shall Not Pass!!!

I liked it. I believe the only people who really disliked it are the people who play the Halo series for it's multiplayer. People can play the games however they like, but those of us who liked the story and enjoy playing the campaign are the winners regarding ODST.

I actually liked ODST more than H3.

Better story, FF, and the H3 multiplayer on top (even if I'm no fan of H3's multi)...

Main reasons why people complained about it is:
1: They had to pay 60$ for it. Which was too expensive. However, in Europe, it only cost 40 euro. That is 20 euros less than any other new retail game....nobody complained about price and value for money here. So the price issue isn't really a valid point to be honest.

2: They expected something else than they got....Like this community always does. Making stuff uber epic and great in your minds, theories and Forums is bound to be a dissapointment, but people still don't grasp that fact.
And then come stories like: it was too short etc. While in fact it was just as long as H3...

Honor est praemium virtutis.

ODST was downright awesome, and still is in my books. Just this weekend I smashed out Firefight with a friend all day.

I think it snuck by mainly because it was a Halo game without an expansive Multiplayer.

ODST is superior to Halo 3 or Reach when it comes to campaign/story quality. In my opinion the Firefight experience is also much better than in Reach. Only reason why people don't talk much about it is that they can't appreciate a good story. Many people forgot ODST quickly because it didn't have multiplayer.

It is an amazing game. Truth be told, most people play Halo out of competitiveness, without really giving a damn about the story(ies).

An assassin will always carry on, even after death.

In my opinion, ODST was the best Halo game. Absolutely brilliant story and characters.

  • 05.25.2011 2:06 PM PDT

The concept is all that really matters.

ODST was the first Halo I'd ever bought. Love it as much now as I did before I bought Reach, 3, and Wars.

it was an expensive DLC and everybody knows it, it was OK at best.

Storywise it's the best Halo out there and was worth every penny. I got it for £25 so I can't complain about the price, and I still play it to this day. Plus, Firefight in ODST is better than the one in Reach:
- It encourages teamwork throughout, especially when going for Endure.
- Infinitely better maps.
- Lack of custom options meaning that you have to work with what you've got.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

When I first played ODST I hated it, basically.

Started playing it again a fair few months ago and wow, apart from the odd weapon/melee balancing that is backwards it's a really brilliant game and by gosh, requires tactics and teamwork instead of charging enemy positions like a near-invincible 7 foot walking tank... oh yeah, right. XD

To expand on the weapon balancing, why are projectile weapon damages halved, but I can still punch a brute to death? And why are my supressed guns still giving away my position?
But yeah, no game is perfect.

  • 05.26.2011 1:39 AM PDT

The best part is, most non-dedicated Halo fans didn't really like it so my friends gave it to me for free!!! But seriously it has one of the best campaigns, best music, and best voice axtimgnof any halo game.

  • 05.26.2011 4:31 AM PDT

I loved the campagin...hated co-op on live....hated Co-op fire fight when you wanted to do that one vid master. Lag fest ensued.

I honestly found FF in ODST a little bland at best.
